Grambling's Douglas Porter to be inducted into College Hall of Fame
By Nick Deriso nderiso@thenewsstar.com Grambling resident Douglas Porter, who had a five-decade long career in coaching and athletic administration, will be inducted into the College Hall of Fame. The National Football Foundation is expected to announce the 2008 class on Wednesday. A former assistant at Grambling State under Eddie Robinson, Porter was a head coach at former Division I-AA programs Mississippi Valley (from 1961-65) and Howard University (from 1974-78) and finally at Division II Fort Valley State (from 1979-94). He was a longtime administrator at Fort Valley, as well. Every Grambling senior was drafted by the NFL in 1969. In 1971, 43 GSU players were in pro football camps. http://www.thenewsstar.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/2...80506007/1006/SPORTS This message has been edited. Last edited by: MACHIAVELLI, |
