Now that all MEAC football schedules have been released,I'll bet most of you have gone over your team's slate for the 2008 season. The way the 2007 season ended, all teams will be targeting Delaware State, the defending MEAC champions. My S.C. State Bulldogs were the odds-on favorite chosen by the coaches and media to win it all last year. As it turned out,a couple of tough losses to DelState and much improved Norfolk State made things interesting. But you've got to give both teams their props. When these teams met,it turned out to be a good game. Look for these teams to be in the thick of things come August.

I know we're in the early stages of baseball season and the NBA playoffs, but I thought this would be the appropiate time to arouse the football fans with the season beginning in August. What game(s) are you looking forward to? What game do you think will be the one that decides the MEAC championship? Who do you think has what it takes to win the league title? Can Delaware State repeat as champions,or will we crown a new champion?

And how about some of the early season games? There's been alot of jawjacking between Hampton and Jackson State recently on the MEAC Fan Page. Obviously, they can't wait for that game to get here. And what about North Carolina A&T? The Aggies want badly to break that long losing streak. They get to do that against the blue and gold team of "Aggie wannabes" from Johnson C. Smith. The following week its "the Battle of Interstate 40" at home versus Winston-Salem State. Needless for me to tell Aggie fans about Oct. 4 when they meet their archrivals from North Carolina Central. This is one of the most intense rivalries in college football.

Meanwhile,my S.C. State Bulldogs will have payback on their minds as we go head-to-head with Bethune-Cookman. Coach Buddy Pough hasn't forgotten what happened two years ago. October 13 is also the date that features "the battle of the HUs." Howard versus Hampton-so far its been the Pirates proving to be "the REAL HU."

I'm definately looking forward to homecoming against the Norfolk State "we just want to compete" Spartans. That game should be a bigger sellout than Youth Day and the game against Benedict. Rest assure, the visiting side will be filled with fans wearing green and gold. Ah,football, tailgate parties and homecoming at S.C. State-the prefect combination.

I can go on and on about the upcoming football campaign, but many of you will have a response to my take. Now is the time for you,the members of the MEAC Fan Page to speak your mind about your team's schedule and the 2008 MEAC schedule. And by the way, there's no room for anyone to tell the true football fans to get a hobby. This is hobby-free talk about football,so spare us the rhetoric.

I'll see you on the 50-yard line. Peace

The MEAC will go down to the wire as it always does. See you in August, and as usual, we here in Rattlerville, USA fully expect to go 11-0, just like we expect to do every year.

On the real, the MEAC is tough, unfortunately, Delaware State did not represent in the playoffs, and compounded the myth that we don't have a clue. That being said, there is a BIG game every week, and things will be very interesting on a week to week basis. Every GAME will be huge.

Thumb Up This is the game i'm looking forward to the most outside of the William and Mary matchup. The visiting side of Bulldog stadium will be covered with Green and Gold! SCSU has better talent and home field, but NSU has better coaching. We still haven't forgot what Buddy did last time we visited Mad

I look for a good season from my Spartans. We've improved in some area's and have more depth than last year. The meac has improved from top to bottom, so there will be no easy games!

this upcoming season will be one of the most intriguing seasons in a long long time! you've got last year's leaders (hampton, dsu, scsu, nsu) returning as strong as ever. you've got an anxious famu team led by former hampton coach joe taylor, every game they play will be scrutinized. the rest of the league will be searching for an identity but history has shown, anything can happen! my aggies will be lQQking to pull a few surprises this year. man, i can almost feel autumn in the air already! indeed, it will be a very exciting season to say the least…

are we talking about schedules???

i like NSU's schedule (very pleased!). NSU has our in-state rival, an in-state rival PWC that is in our region of the state, we have a FBS opponent (for exposure and experience), we play a FULL meac schedule. Hopefully we will stay focused and concentrate on one team at a time. I do look forward to a few key games: VSU, W&M, HiU, FAMU (homecoming), DSU (the rematch), and of course the aggies! To add flavor we still have the howard game in DC (always good), and one of my personal favorites -morgan state. and WOW!!! we play BCU in daytona - Pete v. Wyatt has been classic every year....

... is that our whole schedule that i'm looking forward to? phew! Eeker

I just can't wait for all the SMACK to be thrown around this summer. the SMACK before the game is sometimes more enteraining than the actual games. I also can't wait for the tailgating and actually attending my first A&T homecoming as an ALUMNI!!!!!

With that said, I personally hope we not only beat Central and run up the score, we cause the Coach Rison to pull a Jackson State and asks the refs for a running clock!

See ya pigeons on Oct. 4th and remember, revenge is best served 80 - 0!!! Shoot

You all should just pencil-in wins against Coach Wyatt and the little private school located in the southern-most MEAC city. Pencil

We play defending conference champ DSU for our homecoming, SCSU in Chucktown, Hampton on the road, and the mighty Rattlers in O-Town in front of 1 or 2 close friends and family members.

Poor BCU. Why even show up? We don't have a chance.

I am really looking for to another season of Fighting Wildcat football. I can't wait for our first game against the ASU Hornets in Daytona. I will definetly make that one. IMO the SCSU-BCU matchups are becoming more interesting every year. Maybe we need to start an anual classic with SCSU. Wink Just a thought... I'm always looking forward to Homecoming and especially the Florida Classic. Ahh, It does my heart good to see the Rattlers hang their heads in shame and digust when we beat them. Big Grin In all, it should be a great football season for the 'Cats and the MEAC. Thumb Up

I think the teams to look out for are NSU, SCSU, and FAMU. FAMU only because I think Taylor has no equal in the MEAC when it comes to putting a staff together.

I really like how you totally disregarded that little game scheduled on the 3rd Saturday of November. I wouldn't expect anything less from a snake. Carry on, don't mind us.

Thumb Up I totally agree. SCSU is really becoming a competative rivalry. It's becoming a must attend event at home and on the road. Our bands have good relationship as well so that doesn't hurt.
