The Florida Marlins have the best record in MLB and the Tampa Bay Rays have the second best record in the vaunted AL East. Could there be an all Florida World Series?

Have been to both "Sunday Sweeper" games in the Trop so far (vs. the Red Sox, and yesterday vs. the Angels) ... And will be "playing hooky" for this week's Thursday afternooner ...

We start a four game series with the Yanks tonight ... And if the Rays can pull off at least three of these, folks might just start believing around here. Let them sweep the Yanks ... and this place won't really know what to do.

Usually, by the first 40 games the Rays are already about 10-15 games out, are mathematically eliminated by the All Star Game - and folks are waiting on Bucs tickets to go on sale - but right now, these guys are actually PITCHING like major leaguers, and folks around here who have been complaining about "whatever" to happen before they will support them are being put to the test, and being shown up for the frontrunners they are.

The Rays & Marlins play two interconference series in June, and hopefully they are both playing like they are now ... But both of them in the World Series ... " Eeker "!

IMO NO we will not have a all Florida World Series. The Marlins have a better chance than the Rays. Right now there is no clear cut favorite in the National League but we know that there will be a lot of teams in the American League like the Red Sox or the Angels or even the Yankees that will be in the mix. I'd have to say I'm surprised by the Rays start.

If the Marlins played the Rays in the World Series, who would attend? In October?

Seriously, the Marlins don't have the pitching outside of Olsen. Miller has had a couple of good starts recently, but the jury is still out on him. Maybe they will acquire some help. I hope they can make it again, but it will be a tough journey.

"History is not a procession of illustrious people. It's about what happens to a people. Millions of anonymous people is what history is about." - James Baldwin

" ... the United States, for generations, has sustained two parallel but opposed states of mind about military atrocities and human rights: one of U.S. benevolence, generally held by the public, and the other of ends-justify-the-means brutality sponsored by counterinsurgency specialists. Normally the specialists carry out their actions in remote locations with little notice in the national press. That allows the public to sustain its faith in a just America, while hard-nosed security and economic interests are still protected in secret. ": Robert Parry, investigative reporter and author

"If you tell a lie big enough and keep repeating it, people will eventually come to believe it. The lie can be maintained only for such time as the State can shield the people from the political, economic and/or military consequences of the lie. It thus becomes vitally important for the State to use all of its powers to repress dissent, for the truth is the mortal enemy of the lie, and thus by extension, the truth is the greatest enemy of the State." - Joseph Goebbels, German Minister of Propaganda, 1933-1945

It's the opposite. THe Rays have the better pitching, the Marlins don't, that will kill you in a NL East with the type of lineups the Braves, Phillies, and Mets can throw at you.
