The brief history of Meacfans says 'YES' we would care, despite whatever positive or negative responses it would receive.
Some would percieve it as progressive or doing what is in the interest of your school, others may percieve it as being separatist or admission of failure.

Regardless, if folks didn't care, they wouldn't respond.

Athletically, NSU has to get back @ Howard for upsetting our SPARTAN cart of last season! Plus, their football team sends somebody to the NFL pretty regular. That's a plus to any athletic conference that fields football teams.

Before this turns into another smack thread, (looking at posts before mine....too late)I would care. Howard is a storied institution that has name recognition. People know the name Howard. I like going down the street to watch the games when my Spartans come to DC to play the Bison. While their athletics of late have been nothing spectacular, their academic standards are to be commended.

I wouldn't cry about it, there would be a few less games in DC my Spartans would play in, but like life, I'd move on. I'd care, but I wouldn't lose sleep or go out rioting looking for a flatscreen tv during the fracas.

Actually it was a compliment. Since the Poster wanted to point out how "pointless" it is to consider Howard athletic prowness I cited a school that is known for such. The Rattlers.

My point...not even for the famous Rattlers do we start shedding tears. We actually turn on them....a la the IA move.

But why would leaving be somebody becoming high and mighty? If it is a move upward, why would it be considered high and mighty?

Yes and No. Yes because it might be the beginning of the end of HBCU conferences and certainly would be the beginning of the end of Howard as a predominately Black college. ( assuming that howard would join a conference of predominately white colleges)

No, because the MEAC contenders in every sport would still be in place.
