JSU was most dominant in the 80's, and Central State got all the ones JSU might have won, because of a playoff loss usually.

JSU did not become a force in football until the 60's and we blew up in the 80's. SU, Wiley, PV ect...were running it before then.

robber,

Actually, Central State were dominant in 80's and 90's. We really won six black national titles.. Because Central State won ASW national title back in 1992..

You probably would've gotten POUNDED by those Central State teams as well.

Guess what little ole non-football playing school in DC has JUST AS MANY as JSU? Not bad for a small time program huh? Thumb Up

NCCU should have won the 1954 Black National Championship - because we beat Tennessee St. in the 1954 National Championship Bowl Game that year, they only beat us during the regular season. So we should actually have two National Black Championships 1954 and 2006... Trophy

Just because they pounded the rest of y'all (which JSU was doing, too), don't mean they woulda beaten JSU. All I know is, the one time we did play them we beat them 41-14.

I was wondering the same thing. Only change I know I'd make is replacing Doug Williams with Steve McNair.

I would just make another list that started in 1994 or redo it by decades.

Does anyone have Central's schedule and results in the late 80's.

B tripple,

That just shows that national championships don't tell the whole story. JSU is a BCF power. HoU is not.

^ Here you go. http://michigan-football.com/ncaa/f/centrlst.htm

When you look at the scores and the way they dominated, it's almost safe to say we will never have another HBCU as dominate. IMO the coaching staff was second to none in the HBCU world. BJ at OC and Comegy at DC. They have been hands down the best HBCU coaches over the last 25 years.

I will never forget Central scoring 101 points in 3 quarters vs. Lane College for homecoming. I felt sorry for the ROTC who did pushups after every touch down. After that game they were looking like those dude on the movie 300 Smiler

Their last game in 95 vs. JSU was a very sad day. Last game for almost 10 years.
