Game six in a must win sisuation & and Dirk "The So-Called Superstar" could not even score 10 points. And after that game, people wonder why myself and people I know that has played in the NBA calls him soft and lacks toughness to lead. That's why they went out to get Kidd, because dirk could not lead them, just like Ralph Sampson, who had to be carried by Hakeem when he was in Houston. You hit the nail on the head for Dirk! _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ 1gramblingfan |

Josh Howard is not an all star. He made the team somehow, but the Lakers have 4 or 5 players that are better than Howard.

Not a few years ago. Howard made the All-Star Team. Did Lamar Odom? The answer is no! _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ 1gramblingfan |

The only player outside of Kobe on the Lakers that is better than Josh Howard is Pau Gasol. _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ http://assets.espn.go.com/photo/2008/0216/nba_g_dhoward_412B.jpg |

Bynum and Odom are a lot better than black-hole Josh Howard. |

When? Not last season when the Mavs got bumped out of the playoffs early...which is what we are speaking of here. |

Let's see....The last three seasons Josh Howard has averaged 15.6, 18.9 and 19.8 per game. Lamar Odom has averaged 14.8, 15.9 and 13.6 points per game. Plus, Howard has been to an All-Star game and was a key contributor to helping the Mavs to the NBA Finals. Lamar Odom has not done accomplished any of that in his career. And to compare Howard and Bynum is crazy because they play vastly different positions. _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ http://assets.espn.go.com/photo/2008/0216/nba_g_dhoward_412B.jpg |

I agree that Dirk did have an All-Star in Josh H oward and Dallas still could not get it done. Kobe has more of a killer mentally than Dirk and the Lakers are the favorites to win it all. _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ 1gramblingfan |

Let me preface this by saying that I think Kobe Bryant is a fantastic player and deserves to win the MVP this year by a hair over LeBron James. However, I think Kobe has gotten a pass when players like Dirk and KG have not for their team's failing in the playoffs. KG got blasted for so many years in Minnesota for the T-Wolves failing to make a deep run in the postseason. Dirk has gotten that same treatment so far in Dallas because the Mavs have been unable to win the NBA title. But Kobe has not gotten critized one bit for the Lakers missing the postseason one season, and exiting in the first-round two years in a row. People have always said Kobe and Co. can't win because he does not have a sufficient supporting cast around him. Ha! The Lakers were up 3-1 against the Suns two seasons ago and L.A. folded faster than a camping tent. Then last year, the Lakers were dispatched by the Suns in the first-round again. But what did folks do? They said it was not Kobe's fault for not being the leader he should be, but it was the Lakers brass fault for not surrounding their star with the talent to hold a 3-1 lead. Did Kobe show killer instinct in that series? What does Kobe do in the offseason? Complains to anyone with a microphone, camera or cell phone video recorder that he wants to be dealt. And then he tells folks he wants to be traded to the Bulls. Now, this is the same man who said he wanted to be a Laker for life after signing a big deal to stay with L.A. prior to the 2005 regular season. Now, is that being a leader? Does those actions show killer instinct? Or does it show Kobe's inability to win a championship or playoff series without Shaq? Dirk never complained to Mark Cuban about getting him player A, B or C or trade me to the Spurs. Even when the T-Wolves were horrible, KG never said trade me. But those players were looked at as "soft." Kobe was looked at as a "leader" for complaining. I don't get it. Like I said before, I think Kobe should win the MVP this year. Not because he deserved it, but because he earned by being a leader. Something he did not do shortly after the dynasty broke up. _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ http://assets.espn.go.com/photo/2008/0216/nba_g_dhoward_412B.jpg |

I have always been critical of Kobe's leadership skills until this year. When you are winning, things can look great, but when you are losing, things can go sour in a hurry. He has learned to be a leader and I would give him the MVP alone this year because he is leading his team and playing with a bum finger that needs surgery. If the Lakers don't win it all this year, Kobe will not get the free pass you have been talking about. When I mean Dirk is soft, I mean being 7 foot and not willing to get the rebounds, block shots and being what a 7 footer should be, KG has played soft along with Stoudmier of Phoenix _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ 1gramblingfan |

1. To be honest with you, I think LeBron and Kobe should share the MVP. I mean, if you took LeBron off the Cavs that team would be drafting either Michael Beasley or Derrick Rose. The Cavs are truly a one man team just like the Lakers were a few years ago. 2. Well, you know that European 7-footers have not had the glowing reputation of doing the dirty work on the inside. However, you can't make Dirk that type of player if he had been successful throughout his career being himself. I wish he would be more like a bull down low, but it's just not him. 3. I don't think KG or Amare have ever played a game in their life less than a 100 percent effort. Just ask Tim Duncan last year if he thought Amare played soft. _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ http://assets.espn.go.com/photo/2008/0216/nba_g_dhoward_412B.jpg |

1. And before Gasol, how would the Lakers do without Kobe. Kobe is the MVP this year over James, but not by much. 2. I am glad to see you admit Dirk is one of those soft 7 ft European players who can't get it done in the big game. Remember game six in the Golden State Series when he could not even reach double-digits. 3. I should not say KG is soft, but just don't have the killer mentally who has the ability to take over a game whenever he wants. Stoudmier does not play defense, just can score and can't stop any decent Power-Foward from scoring. Now Ralph Sampson, Brad Sellers is what you called soft. _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ 1gramblingfan |

Again. Kobe has been dominated in the playoffs in recent years. "Dirk doesn't get rebounds". The guy averages 9 a game. That is WAY above average. People here forget how Dirk single handidly beat the team of the decade 2 years ago to go to the finals.

And then Dirk's tent folded as soon as Miami got physical with him with 6'8 Fowards who Dirk should have posted up & just took over the series like Wade did. For God's sake, Dirk is 7' feet and should be able to get at least 9 rebounds. I know you guys these days have that disease that any player averaging at least 20 points in a day where there is no weakside defense, and you can't touch the players with rules for just about any decent player to score. After Dallas went up 2-0 on the Heat, Dirk should have put the dagger in them, just like Kobe should have done to Phoenix and did not. And you keep harping on that one series where Dallas beat the Spurs, but you change the subject when we talk about that egg he laid in Golden State where in a game six that Dallas had to have, Dirk disappeared and only scored 8 points and 10 rebounds, was outplayed by 6'7 fowards who did not make any all-star team. Let's see if Dirk can beat the Spurs this year, I don't think so. I am not a Laker & Kobe fan, but I do give him his due. He is playing like he playing like he in on a mission, quest to win it all this year. Admit, Kobe is a much tougher player than Dirk and the Lakers are playing much better as a TEAM than Dallas. _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ 1gramblingfan |

That softie Dirk becomes the Mavs all-time leading scorer with 34 and 9. The Mavs wouldn't win 30 games without him.

Please, you can't be serious. You would rather have Lebron taking a shot than KOBE! I would take Kobe from anywhere on the court over LeBron, especially with the game on the line. _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity!
