Well its over in LA and the long awaited battle between Southern and BCU is over. Although a series would certainly say more about how the teams compare, the score of the game today is all we have to go on for now.

BCU- 10
SU - 4

I would like to see what some of the SWAC fans have to say. I'm not trying to start smacking, but would like honest objectivity.

Batter up!

I played ball in the SWAC and I have to say that BCU is one of the better HBCUs teams I've seen since the 2003 SU team.

I really don't want to get into "smack" over baseball because we should all be striving to get more of our kids to play the game. And I think BCU and SU did a good job of telling our young kids that you can go to an HBCU and have a chance to beat the best teams in the country.

SU and BCU could have taken three of the four games played easily. That showed me that the gap is not as big as we thought it was.

I have no problem saying I think BCU has the best baseball program amongst HBCUs.

I think BCU and SU both put on good showings. Hopefully we will see a HBCU in Omaha soon. BCU's baseball coach Melendez (sp) expects his team to be really good next year. If this early portion of the season is any indication I believe him.

BCU reminds me of my Atlanta Braves alot of pitching, and needs a couple of BIG bats in the line up.... Good showing in CA, I watched the Saturday night game against UCLA......

Solid win for the conference.

While, I think it is obvious that both BCU and SU have established themselves as top tier HBCU baseball programs. As the baseball format through the season is measure in a set of three games and double elimination in tournaments. I think it is difficult for one head to head match-up to measure which of the two is the best program.

Furthermore, I believe Prairie View A & M recent success would suggests that they are well on their way of establishing themselves as one of the best SWAC baseball programs and another elite HBCU baseball program. It will be interesting to view were these programs finish at the end of conference play and at the end of the conference tournament.

Congratulations!!

This year and last year and the year before that and the year before that and ....

Look, if you want to believe what Coach Cador is preaching about how SU is not that great "this" year, fine. But, trust me, we're "rebuilding" ourselves.

Of course, all things being relative, our rebuilding looks like reloading next to y'all's weak.

But, hey, what do i know? We only gave up four runs combined on the road against the #1 ranked team in college baseball and one of the most storied programs in college baseball.

Speaking just for myself but knowing "certain" people, i have very little doubt that Bethune-Cookman is very interested (has been very intersted). The real question is for our colleagues in Baton Rouge.

Just got in from sunnychilly LA. I hought that both schools represented well. SU has some big sticks, would love to have an annual series between BCU and SU. Had an opportunity to spend time with SU's legendary baseball coach. Good people! Thumb Up

I think it would be remiss to mention Prairie View and not give NC A&T props for their baseball program as well. Thumb Up

This SU team is no where close to the teams from 01-04. Ask anyone who follows Swac baseball. SU's bench from those years probably could beat this SU team.

"This is not a knock on the major white universities, but they can't nurture young black males like a HBCU. Auburn and Alabama can't do that. LSU can't do that. It's not in their DNA. Close down some of the HBCUs and you'd better plan on building some more prisons.''

bcu is a 12 time meac baseball champion (12 out of the last 13 if i'm not mistaken), that record speaks for itself. just my opinion, bcu is the best baseball team in all of hbcu baseball...

Wow! and you came to that conclusion with all of how many pre-season games under BCC belts?
