The Meac family has mixed feelingz throughout on Central'z movement for membership....lol @ ^^^^^^^

The NCCU alumni and Fans are losing patience with the MEAC's process.
Beleive you me, we have mixed feelings about joining a conference that handles business this way.
We realize that there are other issues but we haven't been treated as we should have been.

The commissioner of the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference confirmed Monday that the league is not looking to expand at this time, a crucial situation for N.C. Central as it looks to move to find conference affiliation in Division I.

N.C. Central has left the CIAA, and Bill Hayes said in August that he hoped to hear something from the MEAC by December. The MEAC, which includes North Carolina A&T and is adding Winston-Salem State, would be a natural fit for the Eagles.

But MEAC Commissioner Dennis Thomas indicated Monday that his conference is not looking to add members.

“This past March of ’07 the conference decided to put a moratorium on expansion at this time,” Thomas said. “There is no timetable to it.”

I don't think they're saying no, just not right now.

I agree with Eagle Banker on this one. I love our football schedule. Playing an all MEAC schedule right now may not be best for NCCU. I know it's difficult scheduling without being in a conference, but we seem to be doing o.k. The MEAC is not going anywhere, so what's the rush?

Conference or not, we are still NCCU Eagles. Know that "an Eagle is no common, ordinary barnyard fowl."

As a SCSU grad, I wish they were already admitted BACK into the conference. Same people act as if there schools where original members, as if they weren't accepted into the conference in the 90's. Now that they are in, they don't want anyone else to join. This is a no brainer!!!

a MEAC football championship game is NOT synonymous with having NCCU join... i'm all for NCCU joining the MEAC, i'm all for split divisional competition... but i DO NOT want to skip the playoffs to play against the SwAc champ in a black college championship game

NCCU joining the MEAC, and divisional competition
MEAC championship game, skipping the FCS playoffs

The presidents have already spoken against skipping the playoffs. no need to worry about that.

I am definitely for the divisional format and more out of conference competition.

Hamptonite and NSU Alum,lest you both forget North Carolina Cantral is one of the original members of the MEAC. Why either of you wouldn't want them back in the MEAC is beyond me.

I would like nothing better than Commissioner Dennis Thomas to extend the invitation to the Durham-based school to join the MEAC. The return to the MEAC would take the rivalries with Winston-Salem state and North
Carolina A&T to another level.

don't worry bulldog, i'm predicting that it'll be a mute point by june. the meac spring meetings are two weeks away and i'm bettin' nccu's application will be accepted in some form at those meetings. if not, the commish needs to stop procrastinating with this situation and communicate very clearly to conference members exactly why there's a moratorium on expansion and exactly why nccu has not been admitted. this bs has gone on long enough! make a freakin' decision and cut out the bull!

OleSchool Aggie,the only bs that needs to be cut i s that crab azz excuse of a commissioner named Dennis Thomas. Its bad enough he couldn't coach worht a dayum,but now he couldn't lead cats to a salmon can.

Can the MEAC have a championship game and send teams to the playoffs?

There is still talk of Div. 1AA teams playing 12 games. The MEAC could continue to play 11 games and have the 12 games as the championship game (that is how the CIAA does it).

If everything is done before thanksgiving it might work.

Also the playoffs is expanding and might be moved back a week.

The presidents also said there will be no championship game.
