congrats lady pirates. i was at the game tonight, the lady pirates simply wanted it more than the lady aggies. there were some questionable calls but the lady pirates absolutely earned the victory, they out hustled the lady aggies. i think complacency has finally set in with the lady aggies. perhaps this will be a wake up call for the lady aggies. nonetheless, the only thing loss out of this was the lady aggies’ undefeated conference record. we still have the #1 seed and regular season championship. you’d like to win them all but this loss will let the lady aggies know that they are not invincible. look for bibbs to use this game to really have them motivated for the tournament…

^^Thats what I was thinking. When, all of a sudden is Hampton now known for "home cooking". Confused I've never heard that assertion before oldsport mentioned it. Now, of course EVERY MEAC team has refs that may be a little more partial to the home team every now & then, but the HUCC refs do not cheat for Hampton, & I don't believe I've heard other MEAC opponents make such a claim. Questionable calls are everywhere all the time in the MEAC.

I seem to remember an HU win over NSU last year on the women's side where everyone (other than the 3 refs) saw the Hampton girl shoot the ball after the buzzer and red light went off, but they counted it anyway.

^^^ "Bingo!" my azz!

LMAO. As usual, irrelevant comments from the peanut gallery are worth about as much as an old crusty bucket of hot spit spiked with cold chit.

OK, Now that the foregoing has been firmly established, let's see what a pro, coach Cage-Bibbs, had to say about how or why her team lost last night's game:

quote:
It's supposed to hurt. ...
"I dream big," said head coach Patricia Cage-Bibbs. “And the great thing now is that we have their [the Lady Aggies]attention. Sometimes when you lose you win because it’s painful for them right now. They’re hurting. So if they don’t want to feel this pain again they better come to play every night because when you get into that tournament it’s one and done.”

What may have been more painful is that this Bibbs’ first loss to Hampton – a team she led to three MEAC Championships – in six games. The Pirates ended the Aggies chance of becoming the first team in the program’s history to go undefeated in the conference. They also ended the Aggies school record 15-game winning streak.

“It was a great game,’’ said Bibbs. “It came down to that last shot. Hampton executed tonight. This is a team we beat by 32 points in our gym, so you have to give them credit..."

“I was concerned about this team coming in because Hampton rebounds the ball so well,’’ said Bibbs. “They’re also a mirror image of us because I was there at Hampton for seven seasons. I didn’t know how we would react seeing ourselves in the mirror,
but I was proud of the ladies because they came out focused. They knew what was on the line.”

Well...for all intents and purposes, this sums up the beginning, the middle, and the end of this story.

Beating this dead horse with stupid azz assertions while cracking open and gumming more stale azz peanuts aint't gonna change a dayum thing, now is it? That's what I thought! Laugh Laugh

I wouldn't necessarily call this "upset of the year". An upset would be WSSU beating NC A&T in the MEAC tournament championship game and going on to the round of 64. Now that would be an amazing upset. Just my opinion.

My perception of Hampton Women's Basketball and their coach has not changed. Let's see what happens away from the confines of that homer ref inhabited Hampton Convocation Center.

I know against Morgan, Hampton went to the foul line 49 TIMES and ended up winning by 5 or 6. We killed them when they came to B-more. They turned the ball over like bag ladies 33 TIMES.

Lady Aggies should be okay going into the tournament. You probably just finished playing 8 people against your 5. It's tough to get a evenly called game in the Hampton Convocation Center.

The world turn upside down for one day. My negative perception of Mebane has not changed.

As far as Hampton's home court advantage against Morgan. I take exception to you OLDSPORT. The Lady Pirates forte is rebounding. That night against Morgan, the Lady Pirates had a huge rebounding edge and dominated the offensive glass. When you do that you EARN a lot of free throw. The Lady Pirates EARNED that free throw advantage. It was not handed to them by the refs.

Pat's being nice. I know she was worried about these clown azz refs when she saw the three who were scheduled to call the game. That's a fact jack.

However, this win may have saved Mebane's job.

Hey PIE-RATS, don't expect to duplicate this feat in the tournament.

It didn't save his job at all, he is in the first year over a new multi-year contract.

The one thng I agree with you about oldsport is that this win may- and I strongly emphasize the word may- have saved his job. I thought the same when Bobby collins took the team to the tournament 2 years ago and that didn't save him from anything.

company's COTR on the phone. He's still struggling. I'm trying to help him out, but,REALLY, how difficult can mastering A-B-C and D be?

This loss could help us refocus but I am more worried about the start time for A&T in the women tourney. I think A&T first game is on Wednesday at 10:30 or 11AM and next on Friday at high noon. I just worry about the team trying to creating momenentum in a giant place where you might have 500 people watching.

Having said all that I still think it will be Coppin vs A&T in the finals

That would be an amazing feat, esp. since WSSU is not eligible for the MEAC Tournament.

Laugh You're right. I forgot they're not eligible. But it would be an upset if they were eligible.

The real deal is that OLDSPORT is worried that his BEARS may have trouble beating the Pirates 3 times in one season.

I think Morgan's Lady Bears split games with Hampton Lady PIE-RATS. Yes, we spanked their butts when they visited Hill Field House. (I remember the Lady PIE-RATS recording 33 turn overs.) Laugh The refs weren't the same homers that ref'd the game in Hampton. I think last year the Lady Bears beat that Lady PIE-RAT'S azz 3X's to include the tournament kicking.

Now, as for the men, it may be difficult to kick the PIE-RATS butt 3X's. However, I hope the Bears get the opportunity.
