Coleman needs heart transplant
Derrick Coleman, 41 come June 21, is in urgent need of a heart transplant. Details are scarce, but the few collected are scary. Toward the end of Coleman's 10-year NBA career, he was diagnosed as suffering from arrhythmia. The disorder was treated with medication and it stopped his heart from skipping a beat and alleviated his shortness of breath, etc. For whatever reason, Coleman's condition severely worsened lately, hospitalizing one of the toughest hombres in league history. Only a couple of his closest friends - Charles Oakley and Ricky Mahorn - have been able to see him. _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ A RATTLER TO THE VERY END! |

Looks like this is BS.
http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/print?id=3378594&type=story Friday, May 2, 2008 Coleman says he has irregular heartbeat, doesn't need transplant -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ESPN.com news services DETROIT -- Former NBA player and Syracuse star Derrick Coleman says he doesn't need a heart transplant, despite reports to the contrary on Friday. Coleman told ESPN's Stephen A. Smith that he is in the hospital for an irregular heartbeat but doesn't need a transplant. Quoted in a story on the Detroit News' Web site, Coleman said, "Do I sound like I need a heart transplant? I don't know how this stuff gets started. I appreciate the love, but please tell everybody that I am fine." A New York Post report said Friday that Coleman, 40, was in failing health and in need of a heart transplant. Coleman is hospitalized in the Detroit area. According to the News, he is on blood thinners to dissolve clots in his chest. Coleman also told the paper that after completing treatment, his heart will "receive a shock" and he will go back to his normal activities. He said he doesn't need a transplant. "If I needed one I would be calling a press conference begging for one," he said. "This ain't that serious." _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ Live like no one else, so that later, you can live like no one else! |

I just read what little information is on this thread and I agree that his situation sounds manageable though, of course, not ideal. Glad to hear that you are doing okay as well, REDCAT. _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ "The media want to maintain their intimate relation to state power. They want to get leaks, they want to get invited to the press conferences. They want to rub shoulders with the Secretary of State, all that kind of business. To do that, you've got to play the game, and playing the game means telling their lies, serving as their disinformation apparatus." - Noam Chomsky "If you tell a lie big enough and keep repeating it, people will eventually come to believe it. The lie can be maintained only for such time as the State can shield the people from the political, economic and/or military consequences of the lie. It thus becomes vitally important for the State to use all of its powers to repress dissent, for the truth is the mortal enemy of the lie, and thus by extension, the truth is the greatest enemy of the State." - Joseph Goebbels, German Minister of Propaganda, 1933-1945 |
