I just finished looking at the WSSU athletic website and notice that date set for FAMU-WSSU football game is Thursday Oct 9. Does anyone know if this true or not?

I have never seen a change to Thursday this early due to the TV schedule isn't normally final until maybe late July or first of August at the earliest.

This is true. I'm no fan of Thursday night games but I'll be in attendance. It sucks for those that were planning on coming up for that home game from out of town though....Go Rattlers!!!!

Lord willing, I'll be in the house and maybe back to work Friday morning. Been there, done that.

But then again, I will probably just stay down there and beat SPS in a round of golf during the weekend. Big Grin

If our Tampa Chapter can convince enough of our retired Rattlers Season Ticketholders to agree to buy into a bus for the day, we'd be willing to take the afternoon off and hop on.

When the Saturday games start at 6:00pm, we normally don't leave until around noon anyway, and are usually back by 3:00am, so if we can make it happen, we'll be there.

... Maybe you guys in the ATL can "round up" enough Rattlers AND Rams Alumns to do the same. Light

"Why BOTH?"

Also a little disappointed about our home game vs. WSSU ...

But the photo opp to beat up on the reigning MEAC Champs on a night that we may be one of the only thangs on TV ... and to kick D'Whyte's MEAC/ESPNUrban season off to boot ... might be JUST the thang to help bring early attention to US ...

On top of giving both of our respective Alumni Chapters around the Nation a golden opp to explore setting up Viewing Parties, and get their own folks engaged into the season as well.

We need to find a way to max these things out. Schools we barely paid attention to 5+ years ago started ballin' on Tuesday (MAC, C-USA), Wednesday (C-USA), and Friday (WAC, Mountain West) nites. Remember the uproar from HS community that Fri football on ESPN was the ruin of HS football attendance.. Handicap .......
.....and the Thursday nite ESPN game has all but become a staple for any college football fan.

Now, we (BCF) have a chance to keep up with the Jonses' somewhat, with exclusive converage on a "light" nite for football scheduling, but now we complain about an opportunity on a "non-traditonal" nite that the Bowl Subdivision non-BCS conferences embraced and leveraged into their showcase?!?!?!?!

SMH.

"No Diggity!"...

THIS year is gonna be our "Make or Break" year to show that we CAN present the proper package worthy of the opp extended ... And once the schedule is finalized for the season, ALL HBCU's that will be hosting games need to get off their @sses, and get to filling their barns by ANY means necessary.

App State has drawn a LOT of interest in I-AA Football that D'Whyte is now looking to exploit to further his financial agendas ... and if WE don't take advantage of the slot we are being afforded, we're sure that the SoCon - or some other conference with their noses currently pressed to the window - would love to be considered the Signature Conference for the "I-AA Game Of The Week" on Thursday nights in our place.

It's time to quit complaining ... And simply exploit the opp, and get to showcasing to the world just what we say still makes our s*** as unique - and relevant - as some of y'all claim/believe it is. TV

Thumb Up thursday night games on the espn channels should be coveted exactly for the reasons you explained. the big east made a living on thursday night games and gained a tremendous amount of national exposure as a result...

MEAC's problem with ESPN is that we are on ESPNU while premier games are being telecast at the same time on ESPN. So, if you are not a member of MEACfans or attached to the MEAC teams playing that night you don't even know there is a game beign played. This equates to a minimum viewership and access to ESPNU to see these games is difficult anyway.

I would rather have a Wednesday night on ESPN2 than a Thursday night on ESPNU.
