" Thumb Up Thumb Up Thumb Up Thumb Up !"

A local home game ... coupled with local road games ... against a clown school that can only help raise the conference's standing by HU consistently beating these muggz ...

Props to you guys for realizing that beating up on "just us" ain't going to move any of "us" forward any longer.

D'Whyte realizes that the core "talent" is starting to trickle away from the Bigg Doggs, and the I-AA's are about to expand the I-AA format in order to help showcase it to boot ... So the sooner we ALL start looking at utilizing at least ONE of our OOC games against PWC's, the sooner we all will start collectively lobbying for at least a second - if not a third - slot in the 20 team grid ... by what we do on the FIELD!

Hope our folks start looking at approaching GA Southern!

Hopefully the success of this series will make ODU reconsider their reluctance to play NSU!

Thumb Up excellent move bison! should stir up a lot of local interest. howard and georgetown should have done this a long time ago. hail, if i'm not doing anything that weekend, that's a game i might even attend. it always amazes me to watch the expression on white folks' faces when they see a real hbcu marching band and cheerleaders for the first time… Smiler

It's no secret my fellow Bison brethren and I disagree on locking ourselves in a four year deal with THIS particular PWC...IAA opponent. I think this game is more advantagous to G'Town than it is for Howard. I think many of us get caught up in the NAME and aren't thinking strategicly. Georgetown is basically a DIII program that was force by the NCAA to move up. I'm hearing we may be playing them at some High School stadium in downtown D.C.. I have no idea where that is. In otherwords...no rankings boost...only something to lose, nothing to gain recruiting wise.....and absolutely no MONEY to gain. There are also other fundamental rules being broken here. Thumb Down Four years? smh....

FORCED to move up by the NCAA? Handicap

Confused I didn't realize the NCAA did that.

Please explain, kSmith.

The only way this game will be advantageous for Georgetown would be if they beat Howard. But they are playing each other for 4 years. It's a good local game, it's not gonna cost either school any money for hotels or travel, and it looks like a win-win situation for both schools. KSmith, what is your problem with this? Handicap

From a IAA sporting news journal..."Losing all these teams has been the unfortunate consequence of the NCAA mandate in the early 1990s that if you sponsored Division I basketball, you had to be Division I in all your sports. That forced many schools that were competing at the non-scholarship Division III level in football to move up to I-AA. Some have survived, finding their niche in conferences like the NEC and Pioneer League. Others moved forward and offered full scholarships. But too many found that the costs were too high and the rewards were too few, and simply folded up their tents, leaving their stadiums silent on fall afternoons."

This is the only reason G'Town is IAA now. The advantage is a recruiting advantage. Howard's admission standards even makes this move more damaging. Kids that qualify for HU basically can play anywhere. I too once got excited about playing this game. But, after a conversation with a few head coaches, one former HU coach. The answer was..." Why should we help build up a LOCAL IAA program that potentially will be competing for the same players"? What advantage is this game for Howard they asked? They talked about Univ of Maryland playing other IAA's but never even thinking about Howard. It just makes sense and we need to approach things in the same manner. The only way Maryland could justify playing Howard is if we had a following like NSU,A&T or FAMU. Then it would be about making money.

hey, thanks for the 4-1-1, kSmith. I didn't realize that Gtowne had a Div 3 football team before while competing in Div 1 basketball. Okay....NOW I understand what you were saying. Big Grin

Totally disagree...

I can PROVE that Howard and Georgetown recruit different players. Yeah we're in the same city but our recruiting areas are night and day.

For now...and I'd like to keep it that way as long as possible. We have the highest admission standards of all HBCU's. If we're lucky we snatch some of these kids away from William and Mary and James Madison. Now...add Georgetown to the mix. The Hoya's have no following in the area because they have been "hidden" in DIII for years. Now here we are giving them a stage. Hell they're so excited at G'Town they were at the Spring game Saturday. smh.....

I've told why I don't like it now sell it to me. Show me what's so great about this FOUR YEAR deal. I can stomach playing them this year but for the next four years? Why? You tell me.
