That's fine with me. In fact....that's the type of game we need to make money off of. Since the MEAC won't let us push Hampton back we need to make the most out of playing them early. Hampton vs Howard as a Labor Day Classic. We would cut all into NSU vs VSU across the bay.
in 2004 Hampton had Jackson state in during labor day weekend. they drew flies. NSU/ VSU owns labor day in the 757. Even with very bad NSU teams we always have a decent showing that weekend. it would be silly for hampton to schedule that weekend because they know that if they simply move it back a week they'll have the opportunity of getting some spartans over there (if we don't have a big game). There is no way Hampton can outdraw that game... just like when they had homecoming on the SAME DAY that we did... hampton won't beat us on attendance.

did hampton even have a spring game this spring???

PLEASE SAVE THE BULLDOGS...

the smackdown zone is too hot for these pups, sending them there is like sending them into a hot oven
keep your bulldogs where they are safe. Allowing them to mingle with spartans can result in drowning, fatigue,
humiliation, laughter, or loss of employment. Please save your bulldog.

You're out of your mind. Harvey...uh Hampton not only schedule on top of you guys he purposely moved some starting times up or back to conflict with you guys. I think you're fooling yourself. Hampton and Howard would be serious competition to NSU vs VSU. Puleeezzzzz!!! If you were a man where would you be?

Laugh

Tell me which game will have the bigger gate? NSU-VSU or HU-HU?? Tell you what, the winning game doesn't have an "H" anywhere in it. Wink That's like saying Steelers-Ravens in Baltimore will pull fans from Cowboys-Redskins in Landover. Yeah they are in the same area, but they are two different fan bases. Each will do just fine by itself.

We were top 15 in FCS attendance two years ago with a LOSING record. You see what we did last year. We gonna blow the top of that sucker this year. Laugh And we're going to Sob all the way to the Money Laugh Thumb Up

I'll bet you $20 HU-HU doesn't come within 7K of VSU-NSU. Put up or shut up.

Funny seeing Spartans and Bison dispute a game at Hampton and no Pirates even interjecting Laugh In all honesty-- I wouldnt want this classic to be on Labor Day & it has nothing to do with the NSU-VSU classic across the water.
Hampton students start school AFTER Labor Day, so they're not on campus nor the University community and please remember the overwhelming majority of students and alums DO NOT reside in the '757'- the main reason why Hamptonians didn't attend the JSU game along with us not caring much about seeing them added on to the sudden change in venue and hurricane like weather. This classic might do well in DC on LD since both schools have tons of alum & students in that area but may not sell out in Hampton, but again certainly not because of the classic going on over the bridge.
If both games were going on at the same time, I doubt either would see a dramatic decrease, yet neither may be their "full" gate either.

That's a good point about the after Labor Day school start, but isn't it the same for NSU?

I really don't think it would matter because when we bus students most are underclassmen...frosh and sophs. Everyone else are "Local" Alums or upperclassmen who often have remained in the city over the summer anyway. Remember, at HU & HU most of the alums and current students are out of town. The game sells itself when it means something.

HU vs HU under Wilson was special because the Bison was in the upper tier of the conference. This year's game may lose some interest because Joe Taylor is gone and the Pirates stunk it up last year.

In the past NSU was stinking up the joint...Price Stadium was empty...and some were about to panic and call for a return to the CIAA. You had so many pessimist a few years ago that many prefered watching HU vs HU as oppose to NSU vs VSU. Give us the numbers. The weather didn't help either.

Either it's a rivalry or it's not, the coach has nothing to do with it. I don't care if Gary Coleman is the VSU coach, that's still going to be a major rivalry game for NSU.

Pookie the New Jack City Crackhead could be the Hampton coach, but the NSU fans are going to turn out for HU-NSU.
