howard should spank georgetown hands down (as long as the bison don't take the hoyas lightly). most "local" sports fans know that georgetown is not a full scholarship program even though they are d1-aa (fcs). but nationally most fans don't know that, and anytime an hbcu's school name is in yellow (on the espn ticker) opposite a well known prestigious bcs school like georgetown, it’s a big pr feather in the cap (perception-wise nationally) for the hbcu…

Come on now...how is an enity going to be FCS and BCS at the same time. Georgetown will not be bowling on New year's Day anytime soon.

At least twice......and my friends from Norfolk came over to Hampton because it was the first time we had been on their campus in years. The first Hampton vs Howard game was the largest home crowd Hampton had seen since the stadium was renovated. That came from several Hamptonian's in attendance. The Battle of HU's @ Hampton continues to bring in their largest gates. I didn't say NSU alums bypassed their Classic per se but, many Norfolkians would and do prefer seeing a conference game battle vs a traditional DII rival. I personally see many many Norfolk folks...even NSU folk at the Hu vs HU games.

I don't know who the Norfolk State fans who you were hanging out with, but you make seem like that a larege number of NSU fans went to those Howard and HU games. NSU has not had a winning team for years, however the Labor Day Classic still was drawing 18,000-25,000 folks. If they were die-hard Spartans fans they never would of have made the trip over there to Hampton.

I talked with a G-Town assistant about 10 years ago about why they didn't play Howard and his answer was, "You guys have way better players than we do."

That hasn't changed in 10 years and it won't change in the next 4 years of this series. Howard will beat their arse for the next 4 years. Period.

These games will help Howard. They will help them recruit some of those local kids (Catholic/private school kids) who choose G-Town over HU because they'll see the difference in play.

HU WILL beat their arse for 4 years. It WILL NOT be pretty. Don't let KSmith cry on this.

Howard's coach opinion..

"We're very excited about this game," Howard Coach Carey Bailey said. "This is something that is long overdue. It makes sense to have the game since we are the only two Division 1 football playing schools in Washington. These are two outstanding academic institutions and this match-up will bring together alumni, students and fans."

We are not thinking big time. I can understand that. It's not a good move on our part. I'm not saying we can't play them ONE year. But, a four year deal? For what? Bringing alumni together? How? Schittt....we're playing Hampton the next weekend, that's when we come together. WTF?

We sound like Boosters that don't get it. Can't see the big picture. btw, what do you expect the coach to say in the papers. He didn't set up the game the AD did.

smh....How many other MEAC schools or HBCU's in our situation would do what we're doing?

NSU....don't ya'll play ODU anytime soon. Don't be fools. Make them earn it.

You don't have to worry about that, they've gone all the way to North Dakota to avoid scheduling us. Roll Eyes

Cool....don't rush them into being one of your top competitors. They'll catch up quick enough. Remember FAU....FIU? Huh....hope you see what I mean now.

YT has too much money for us not to think about stuff like this. They have the resources to catch us and pass right by. Why help them?

i'm not sure what an enity is, but assuming you mean university, your point is well taken. however, even though georgetown's football team plays in the fcs division, technically they're still a bcs school because they belong to a bcs conference. but its not that important…

Ksmith you're the only person in the universe that holds this opinion. Talk to Bailey, he's a man that isn't going to say something he doesn't believe in.

FAMU didn't play FAU nor FIU while they were coming up. If they have the resources then playing them won't kill us. You're the ONLY person who believes that G-Town is our top competitor...the only one.

Why would those local kids choose Gtown over Howard in the first place??? Considering Gtown's scholarship and DIII circumstance??? Confused

They don't.

Neither Howard NOR Georgetown recruits heavily in DC.

Roll EyesAnd Montana. Roll Eyes

But then again, do you think NSU had space to schedule ODU? Our out of conference schedule could be full up for the next 5 years, and we just don't know about it. Smoke

I will definitely catch the HU-HU game if it's in DC and NSU is playing in Florida, or Timbuktu somewheres. It's always a good game. And the eyecandy will give you cavities forever! Eeker Laugh

Agreed, I'll go to HU-HU in DC if I can get a ticket and NSU isn't playing within 3 hours. But HU-HU in Hampton on the same day? Not a chance.

I'm not a fan of this series. One or two games at most. This will not link the schools together.I doubt a rivelry like say Morgan/Towson wil develop out of this. The gulf between the two schools is too vast. The Hoya fanbase is basketball and then lacrosse.Techically we should be playing them in every sport.

I doubt the diplomats in training will venture over to Ga Ave to cheer on their team.

Formerly DIII....Never said they were our TOP recruiting rival at all. I only said they're our only local competitor. I'm not the only one that's not geek up about this series either.

But....anyway it's not the end of the world. I hope it works out for us.
