Papa John's to offer Cleveland residents 23-cent pizzas

CLEVELAND -- Papa John's Pizza issued an apology to Cleveland and the Cavaliers for making T-shirts with LeBron James' number and the word "crybaby" under it.

To apologize, Papa John's will sell Cleveland residents a large, one-topping pizza for 23 cents on Thursday. The 23 is an homage to James' jersey number. The company also will donate $10,000 to the Cavaliers Youth Fund.

The pizza chain's T-shirts were featured during the Cavs' games against the Wizards on Friday in Washington. Wizards fans taunted the Cavs, who won the payoff series that night in Game 6.

The shirts started after James complained about hard fouls, and Wizards center Brendan Haywood called him a crybaby.

I knew PapaJohns was in the wrong with those t-shirts.

Yup, knew this was coming.

It's not like they lied.

Don't remember Kobe nor Jordan complaining THAT much about hard fouls.

The publicity they've received from the stunt has more than paid for the $10K and a handful of T-shirts ... So the only ones who REALLY lost in this whole Thang were the Bullets.

They oughta create a T-shirt for the way those sorry MF's woofed and talked all that BS ... and yet choked up a THIRD straight loss to the Cavs!

... I think they also scored more points than the Bullets did on four occasions too!

I personally don't see a need for Papa Johns to apologize. In sports you don't have to like the opposing team and what's so bad about calling someone a cry baby?

Lebron got away with a LOT of calls in that series as well. The NBA even went back and "gave" a foul to Lebron after replays showed he elbowed a Wizard player in the mouth.

Personally I think the Wizards DID CHOKE but, there were alot of ticky tacky calls that usually don't get called in the playoffs.

And we wonder WHY our NBA players get smoked come Olympic time.

Just like with everything else in the league image, marketplace dominance, and cash.

They need to make a new commercial:
The NBA where a crapload of Cash happens

I'm no Lebron fan, but some of those fouls homeboy was taking would have led to some straight-up brawls if it was in another environment.

If that was NCCU vs A&T, it would have been on, irrespective of which side laid the foul down.

This is really the first time anybody has really focused on Lebron arguing for calls to be made during his NBA career. It ain't like there's a pattern here....

Anyway, everyone knows the NBA and Stern wanted Lebron in round 2

This dude avged 30, 9 and 7 in the series. Ended it with a triple double. Maybe more players in the league should try being a crybaby.

When a team and 1 particular player puts you out of the playoffs three years in a row, maybe..just maybe it's time to stop pointing fingers at David Stern, the NBA, the Refs, etc...and come to the realization that Washington aint as good as Cleveland.

You two would have a point IF we were calling him overrated.

Lebron is one of the TOP players in the league and like Kobe, MJ, Magic, Bird, Dr.J, etc...he's going to take some hard fouls in the playoffs.

Only a IDIOT would let a player like Lebron go hog wild WITHOUT laying hands on him.

Maybe I have a warped sense of what soft is but it definitely aint taking hard fouls and getting up everytime and still busting your opponents arse EVERY game.

I'm not trying to be funny but the real idiots are the people who don't realize this is a cheap publicity stunt by Papa Johns. Papa Johns has the stadium contract and probably wanted to bring more attention to the company as oppose to this whole..."white out" phenomena taking place at arenas today. Now people actually know who came up with the loot for the shirts. So Mr. Papa John will laugh to the bank as fools from Cleveland lineup to buy a sorry pizza they never would have purchase otherwise. LOL!!!

Now here is an opportunity for Pizza Hut, Domino's to get in with a commercial shot dogging Papa John's....with Lebron as the star of their commercial....with a nice dollar amount paid to Lebron.

Are you kidding? Kobe complains about everything and Jordan always voiced his opinion on the rough play of teams like the Pistons and Knicks. Most of the great players whine a lot.
