FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE CONTACTS:

FALCONS –3/3/08

FALCONS RELEASE RUNNING BACK WARRICK DUNN

FLOWERY BRANCH, GA – The Atlanta Falcons today released 11-year veteran running back Warrick Dunn.

Dunn spent six seasons in a Falcons uniform and finished his tenure in Atlanta ranked third on the franchise’s all-time rushing yards list (5,979) behind Gerald Riggs (6,631) and William Andrews (5,986). He helped the Falcons lead the League in rushing for three consecutive seasons (2004-2006) while reaching the 1,000-yard plateau in each campaign.

"If you tell a lie big enough and keep repeating it, people will eventually come to believe it. The lie can be maintained only for such time as the State can shield the people from the political, economic and/or military consequences of the lie. It thus becomes vitally important for the State to use all of its powers to repress dissent, for the truth is the mortal enemy of the lie, and thus by extension, the truth is the greatest enemy of the State." - Joseph Goebbels, German Minister of Propaganda, 1933-1945

After signing Turner and with Norwood already in the fold, there is no room for the aging Dunn anymore. There still are questions at quarterback, OL and DL the team needs to address.

Not to mention that the Falcons might be looking to move D. Hall from their secondary. Man, it's amazing how the loss of a player like Mike Vick could totally change the franchise so fast.

Then they should move him to the Decatur Dodobirds Community Relations Department! Razzer

They're throwing around down here that he might like to return here or go to the Colts, but we have had our share of retreads that have turned into pumpkins ... and Chucky d@mn sure ain't trying to keep any more remnants of Tony's days around here as it is - much less bring any of them back!

Regardless...even if this is his last down...he will be remembered more for his off field work than on. He is not just a good football player...he is a top notch human.

I agree with KSmith. Look at the last three years.
Career high 1416 with a 5.1 ypc
down to 1140 with a 4.0 ypc
finally 720 with a 3.2 ypc

Let's also not fool ourselves. Dunn got alot of yards because of linebackers staying home to watch Vick on the bootlegs.

Dunn was a great back and for his size deserves to be in a HOF, but he isn't a starting RB anymore.

Buff Soldier, I agree.
I liked Dunn way back when he was a FR at FSU. This is business, not personal.

Even with Vick he had a crappy offensive line. If I'm a team like San Diego I would pick him up immediately.

He needs to find a team that run's that "cut blocking" scheme. He would thrive in Denver.

That's what irritates me about this thread. Everybody is all tears because of his house building project for Mom's. I think it's irrelevant.

I know you don't care about that because it is a business, but you have to admit that one of the CLASS ACTS OF THE NFL WAS LET GO!! But if it was Chad Johnson, you would most likley cry of that than Dunn.

So that should inculde Vick also, since he was part of the problem? Instead, what about blaming Aruthur Blannk for hiring the coach from Louisville.
