Dear Summit Attendee: We are pleased to invite you to the 11th Annual International Multicultural Tourism/Hotel Ownership Summit & Trade Show on July 18-21, 2007 at the Atlanta Marriott Century Center, Atlanta, GA. This is the largest African American owned full service hotel in Georgia. This year’s summit will be exciting and packed with information to help you understand the many opportunities that are available in multicultural tourism & hotel ownership. 2006 was a strong year for hotel investors, developers and lenders and 2007 looks even better. The 4-day educational summit is presented by National Association of Black Hotel Owners, Operators & Developers (NABHOOD), Black Meetings & Tourism Magazine and Horizons Marketing Group. The theme this year is “Meeting New Challenges in the Industry”. The summit will focus on creating more opportunities through African American hotel ownership while developing strategies to maximize the impact of the minority travel market. You will meet and network with industry leaders, African American hotel owners, investors, lenders and potential joint-venture partners. The summit is designed to educate attendees on how to take advantage of the growing multicultural market, develop & buy hotels, explore franchising opportunities, share minority travel trends and look at diversity issues affecting the industry. On Wednesday, July 18, we will have orientation & training for NABHOOD’s prospective and new hotel owners (attendees must sign up in advance). The summit opens with NABHOOD/HBCU Celebrity Scholarship Golf Tournament on Wednesday morning, followed by committee meetings, Opening General Session Business Meeting and the Chairman’s welcome reception in the evening. General Sessions & workshops will be held Thursday through Saturday and the Trade Show on Friday. NABHOOD Corporate Dinners will take place on Thursday and will allow new & potential owners to have dinner with a preferred hotel brand (only open to eligible hotel owners based on availability and must sign up in advance). The NABHOOD Diversity Awards luncheon will be held on Thursday. Awards will be given to individuals and companies who have demonstrated through their actions a commitment to diversity while providing opportunities to minorities thereby changing the industry. NABHOOD Corporate Suites appointments will be held on Friday and will allow potential owners and franchisors to hold one-on-one meetings (must sign up in advance). The summit will close on Saturday afternoon with the NABHOOD Career Expo & Job Fair. The summit continues to attract national leaders and top level hospitality industry representatives including heads of state, foreign dignitaries, hotel presidents and other industry experts who will provide information to attendees on the growth opportunities & strong performance of our industry. Many of these professionals will lead a number of workshops and seminars including “ABC’s of Hotel Development & Ownership” and “Where To Find Money To Build A Hotel”. Invited speakers include Bob Johnson, Chairman, RLJ Development LLC; Don Barden, President of Fitzgerald Properties; Steven Porter, President of The Americas, InterContinental Hotels Group; Danny Patel, Chairman of AAHOA; Roy Jay, President/CEO of Oregon Convention & Business Services Network & Chairman of NCBMP; Bruce Gordon, President/CEO of NAACP National Office; Dr. Ewart Brown, Premier of Bermuda; Vincent Vanderpool Wallace, Secretary General of Caribbean Tourism Organization; Obie Wilchombe, Minister of Tourism of The Bahamas; Carlton Brown of Full Spectrum who is developing a 500 million dollar mix-use hotel project in Jackson, Mississippi and others.
