Got DirecTV and love it. Our bill is a little more than $50, but that's with just the basic package. No movie channels, no sports packages, etc. However, you can add a package for about $10.

I have direct TV with damn near all the channels and a few sports packages.... I think I pay a little under $150, but well worth every penny.

Direct TV Thumb Up , DishNetwork BIG Thumb Up

Pros - Cheaper then Digital Cable, more HD channels.

Cons – If you have a need for a difficult installation, the field tech will try and get out of it. He will shoot you some BS

The Direct TV receiver has more programmable capabilities. I could program up 8 or 10 shows into my receiver and they would be stored in the receiver until I changed them. With Comcast, I have to reprogram the shows every 3 or 4 weeks.

Didn't keep Digital Cable with Time Warner long enough to remember but what I like just as much as all channels are digital and programming programs by timer is the caller id that shows up on the tv screen when I'm watching tv. I have caller-id on my phones but I don't have to change direction and I know whose calling. Thumb Up

I've had DirectTV for about 5 years now and would never go back to cable. Goes out rarely if ever during a storm and if it does, it never longer than 5mins.

I just got DirectTV last October...Man, let me tell you...I messed around and got the NFL Sunday ticket and almost lost my natural mind... Big Grin Big Grin Big Grin ...I also have a HDTV Monitor TV so I also got a HDTV tuner...and the picture quality is OFF THE CHARTS....I was about to get mad during the SuperBowl week because CBS wasn't broadcasting a HDTV signal....But wouldn't you know they signed a contract to start broadcasting HDTV signal on CBS...So I was in hog heaven watching the SuperBowl in HD.....

I will never go back to Digital Cable....

I'd LOVE to switch over to satellite TV, but I'm still skeptical of the cloudy/rainy day fade out issues, being that I'm in the tropics. Frowner

Has there been any improvement in that area? Confused

I would say yes...I remember a few days when it was raining really hard and there were thick clouds in the sky...DirecTV didn't drop once...I was impressed, very impressed...Now I have had times when it would break up a little but it quickly cleared up...Heck, my digital cable use to do the same thing and it use to go out from time to time....on sunny days.... Mad

You should give it a try...Make sure you get the service contract for the dish just in case lighting hits it or they have to come out and re-adjust it....just to be safe... Wink
