Avoid cutting the hair at the skin line. If the hair is allowed to curl back underneath the skin, then it will cause bumps. Edging with clippers rather than a straight razor may help.
Here's a good site to read on it: Brownskin.net _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ With the apparent hardening of hearts by some in America surrounding the issues of inclusion and multiculturalism, black colleges and universities are more important than ever. -Willie Clark FAMU Alumni |

If one does have bumbs on the back of their neck, maybe someone is using dirty clippers/razors when shaving.
I'm not too familiar with these because I've never had them but I can suggest a few things: 1. Make sure the clippers or razors are clean and properly sanitized before use. 2. Wash the area that has been recently cut with a mild soap or shampoo. 3. Moisturize the area after washing to prevent the skin from drying, chaffing, etc. _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ Howard University |

You may want to pull hair out of the bumps if any are inside.

When I lived in So. Cal., I used to have a weekly appointment with a cosmetologist who would go over my face with a needle and tweezers pulling ingrown hairs out. Man, that would feel SO good. Hot towel treatment and all.

Nope... Just the facial bumps. She had a shop in Long Beach which my cut buddy and I used to go to. A female barber in there used to cut our hair, also. We'd get the facial, then the hair cut. _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ With the apparent hardening of hearts by some in America surrounding the issues of inclusion and multiculturalism, black colleges and universities are more important than ever. -Willie Clark FAMU Alumni |

Have you wever hear of Cultura Med Spa in DC? Two brothers started it. One of the brothers went to Morehouse for undergrad. The other earned his MD from Howard.

DO NOT:
1) WASH YOUR FACE/HEAD WITH SOAP RIGHT AFTER YOU GET A SHAVE, OR 2) PUT A BASEBALL CAP ON YOUR HEAD RIGHT AFTER A HAIRCUT Because you will clog the folicles and that will cause you to get bumps. Either you wash it out right after the cut with alcohol or some other astringent or you can use a product like black soap. Personally, I use a mixture of alcohol and alum. _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ "Bison....Let's Roll!!" - Miss P . |

I'm late as hell on this I know...but I found a product at Wal-Mart a while back that worked perfect for me. A dermatologist told me that regular aftershave really wasnt meant for African American males skin, and suggested I try a product called Bump Control. Its designed strictly for our skin and I havent had a problem after or before shaving since.

Yeah I got some from Sally's and it works for me..... actually clears up some of the dark spots you get from shaving.
I was a little skeptical at first because its smells a little funny and its blue.....but works wonders. _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ |

IF YOU HAVE THEM ALREADY
Take tweezers (make sure they are sterile) and pull the hair out. It will hurt yes, but you must get the hair out. The hair is whats making it bump up like that. After your done, use alchohol and some type of anti-razor bump lotion or balm. (you can get this at any beauty supply store) After that, make an appointment with your Dermo on your medical team. He/she will need to look at it to make sure it won't keeloid up. IF YOU DON'T have them: Never shave too close to the skin. If you do, allow for the hair to grow back (at least every 4-5 days) before shaving that area again. You need to let the hair grow OUT of the skin. When you shave too close, to frequently, your not letting the hair grow out of the skin. Still make appointments with your Dermo to make sure everything is ok. _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ I love my PHirst PHAmily |

I use "Tea Tree Oil Anti Bump Lotion" by the people who create the Organic ROOT Stimulator products right after shaving and on the next day I use "NO Bump" Skin Treatment. I repeat the process every other day (I shave every other day) I get both products from Sally Beauty Supply... _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ BullDog from 01-07-65 until...all of Eternity!!!
