Free paternity tests planned By ROBIN BROWN, The News Journal Posted Tuesday, August 29, 2006 at 11:49 am State officials today released details about free paternity tests to be offered for a week of National Child Support Month. Mouth-swab DNA tests will be offered Sept. 18-22 at Division of Child Support Enforcement offices in all three counties, according to Director Chuck Hayward. Hayward says the paternity test offer (in partnership with LabCorp) was an idea from staff brainstorming about how to encourage fathers to acknowledge paternity. The program does have limits: “Before coming to the office, the mother and father must talk and agree to show up along with the child for testing,” Department of Health and Social Services spokesman Jay Lynch said in announcing the program. “If everyone cannot come at the same time for testing, arrangements can be made during the week by contacting one of our offices.” See complete coverage in Wednesday’s News Journal and at www.delawareonline.com. This is great. You don't even have to go on
that stupid Maury Povich show to get your free DNA test. It should be REQUIRED at birth anyway. They require every-dayum-thing else. |

I could see how this may help some men who have their doubts about paternity. I just dont understand why the mother has to go with him and the child? Shouldnt keep her butt at home until the results of the tests have come in?

I think this should be a requirement in every state, especially for unmarried folk who have kids out of wedlock. This would prevent any potential drama later on in life (for the kid, and for the 'accused' father).
For you married folk, tough luck. Any kid produce during the marriage, rather the husband is the biological father or not, the child becomes a product of that marriage, therefor the husband must assume the responsibility for parenting for that child (even if it is known that the kid is "Jodie's"). |

And some dead mothers too. You right on the first but I'm not sure about the second one. I think there's a statute of limitations on that one for married couples. _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ If it's true that our species is alone in the universe, then I'd have to say the universe aimed rather low and settled for very little. |
