NEED SUGGESTIONS.....

Ok, so this is my first time going to Vegas. Our trip to Africa had to be postponed due to my Dad's kidney transplant so we are going to Vegas instead.

Here's the issue. I'm down 25lbs... Razzer I don't know where... Handicap but that's what the weight watchers scales say Big Grin I will be in Las Vegas from the 11th through 18th then headed to DSU's Homecoming for the weekend. I am confident in my meal selections but have no clue how to get my execrise in during this time.

Frequent travellers, what do you suggest?

Congratulations baby! Keep up the good work. I am going to Orlando for 4 days tonight. I plan on eating right during the trip (no buffets). I'll also try to walk a little.

Thumb Up

Drink more water than usual.

Eat lighter and eat more fruit

Walk as much as you can(you can do a lot of that in Las Vegas)

Take the stairs instead of the elevator

Make use of the hotel's gym and any aerobic classes
(I did just that when I went to Las Vegas)

I hope this helps!

Walk the strip. You'll definitely get your exercise in.

Congrats on the loss!

Laugh Oops, I 'walked' right into that one. Laugh

Trust me, you don't want to be wearing no high-heeled boots walking the Vegas strip. A block in Vegas is NOT, I repeat NOT, comparable to a city block as we know it.

Take your comfortable shoes and stay out of the casino! Big Grin

Yep! Sneakers, flip flops or comfortable,low-heels are best.

And make sure to drink LOTS of water--that heat is dry you'll be dehydrated before you know it.

I wish I had read this thread before I went in August. I only saw part of the water show one night and never say the volcano erupt. Dang.

Most reputable hotels have gyms. Walking is good. IF you hit the buffets, make sure you do the concentrate on the fruit and not the bad things. Make sure you drink PLENTY of water. That heat is no joke.

As far as making your pockets fat, I did pretty good with roulette. The key is you have to spread out your bets (color, off, corners, etc.). When I went on my cruise last summer I made more more money in one day at roulette than the rest of the trip on the blackjack table. Have fun!!! Big Grin

Also, I know you ain't a Hampton alum, but check out the "PIRATE SHOW" at Treasure Island. Its FREE and takes place right in front of the hotel in the lagoon, complete with Pirate ships, actors, and the works. Its pretty cool...and did I mention FREE!

Also, DEFINITELY take a trip to the Stratosphere Hotel and go up to the tower. Now, I don't know if you're a thrillseeker of not but you should definitely at least go up there for the view. There is a restaurant up there in the tower which is 949 ft high.

If you want a REAL THRILL....check these out:
BIG SHOT

Let It Whip Rollercoaster

XScream

They did not have Xscream yet last time I visited Las Vegas [thats when Southern played A&T out there].

I also love that Manhattan Express

Speed the Ride at the Sahara is also fun.

Hey, I love rollercoasters and MOST thrill rides, what can I say.

Best Seafood buffet [if you like seafood] last time I was there was at the RIO HOTEL Thumb Up

You'll also have time [I guess] to do one of those half day trips to Grand Canyon and Hoover Dam.

and everybody is right, you can definitely get your exercise on walking up and down the strip. Or even jogging if you like.

Also, while you're there, take the bus to downtown Las Vegas for the Freemont Street Experience, again something else worth seeing that is also FREE. Wink
