My hat is off to y'all. I just really got back into cardio training, because I'm trying to get ready for Homecoming 2008. It's my 10 year reunion/anniversary for coming up in the Hundred, so I have to bring it on. I'm running 2 miles in 30 minutes right now, and I figure that I need to be able to run 3 miles in 30 minutes so that I don't leave Bragg stadium in an ambulance. I just got hip to this part of Meacfans.com, so I'm really encouraged reading through y'all's posts.

That's good stuff Maximus... Thumb Up

Like I told Browneyes months ago, your time will go down the more you keep at it. I first started back jogging after a 4-year hiatus in March of 07 at age 39. I could only go 5 or 10 mins at first and then walk for another 10, then I was through. Then, in 2-3 months, I was knocking out 2 miles in just under 30 mins. Then by the fall, I was doing 2.5 miles in 28 1/2 mins. Now in April of 2008, I am knocking off 3 miles in less than 32 mins., 3-4 times per week, (and that's only because I am trying to save my legs for when I play basketball or tennis later in the week). I think I could hit 30 mins. but I'm not trying to jack myself up so I can't play other sports.I hope to reach the 30 min. mark by some time this summer.

I am saying all this to say that for us garden-variety former high school/college athletes, it takes a while, but the competitive juices and muscle memory seem to come back gradually. Not quite at the pace that it once did (or as quick as we want it to), but it does come back the more you work on it.

I'm supposed to be walking in a 5K event next month..I'll be giving up playing in a softball doubleheader, but hey, its for a good cause, and I'll still get my exercise on.

Good stuff.

Love thatsig on the bottom... Laugh

Anyway, I just cut my 3 miles down to 31 mins. yesterday. I think it was in part because it was a hecka stressful day, and I needed to let off some steam. Shoot, I wound up putting up 250 on the bench press, twice, and I had never put up more than 235 before. A brutha was STREESED...But that workout got it out of me..Thank God for the gym!

Man, this pollen explosion has all but eliminated my running for the last month or so. Now that things are back to normal, I'll be back on the streets running again.

Dam, an hour? Good stuff man. The most I've done were 12 3-minute rounds. I try to average about 250-300 punches each round. Man, I'm dying by the 3rd round.

What did that hour entail?

5 minute shadow boxing
20 minute Heavy bag (45 second rest every 2:30 min)
15 minute Hand Mitts, (45 sec rest every 2 min)
5 mintue shadow boxing
10 minute push ups and situps!

The hand mitts and the Heavy bag were intense and extremely tiring!!!!

That's good stuff for real bro. Thumb Up

I am still on 12 3-minute rounds on the heavy bag right now. I am simulating a real fight, with 1 minute between each round. Yesterday was the toughest day yet. It had to be 95 degrees in the garage.

I will start working the speed bag next week.
