'Soulja Girl' Arrested; Charged With MARTA Attack
POSTED: 6:34 am EDT May 13, 2008 UPDATED: 7:20 am EDT May 13, 2008 ATLANTA -- "Soulja Girl" is behind bars. MARTA police said Nafiza Ziyad, 25, is the woman caught on video during a profanity-laced tirade on a MARTA train. VIDEO: Verbal Attack On MARTA Train Captured by another rider the video of the woman's rant, directed at an elderly MARTA rider, has become an Internet sensation, getting heavy viewing on YouTube.com and other Web video sites. During the confrontation the young woman refers to herself as "Soulja Girl," repeatedly uses the N-word and threatens an elderly woman. After getting tips identifying the young woman as Ziyad, MARTA police charged her with simple assault and two counts of disorderly conduct. Investigators told WSB-TV Channel 2 reporter Tom Jones they were able to identify the elderly passenger and after speaking with her they arrested Ziyad. Her mother e-mailed WSB-TV's Monica Pearson and claimed Ziyad is bi-polar and was off her medication when the attack took place. At first other passengers don't interfere during the minutes-long attack, but finally one man can be heard telling "Soulja Girl" to "chill." Instead of taking that advice she turns on the other passengers, accusing one of rape. Eventually a male passenger confronts her and appears to knock her wig askew. After repeatedly screaming "I'm pressing charges, I'm pressing charges," the woman exits the train. After learning of the video MARTA police launched what they called "an immediate and aggressive investigation into the incident." MARTA officials said they will work with the solicitor general's office to prosecute Ziyad to the fullest extent of the law. Copyright 2008 by WSBTV.com. All rights reserved. I got this from a yahoo group. I don't know the source but i've heard this on the Ryan Cameron Show too.
The young lady in this video reportedly has a bi-polar disorder. She suffered this psychotic episode allegedly because she decided not to continue taking her psychiatric treatments. Her crisis is seen often in severely mentally ill people who have the RIGHT to determine whether or not to take her meds. _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ Official Member of the Blue Death Family |

If people have the right to NOT take their meds. Then society should have the right to protect itself (i.e. they should be arrested, found guilty and serve time for crimes they commit) if they are a danger to the public when off their meds. _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ I'm Thinking...And My Head Hurts. |

Yeah, I'm no Dr. Drew but I had that one pegged from the beginning. She needs to be punished regardless. They have state hospitals for folks who are criminally insane. It is possible to be crazy and a criminal at the same time. Remember: "just because I'm paranoid, it doesn't mean no one is chasing me". I don't want her to forget her meds and remember to shoot somebody that day. Or even forget her meds and get choked out by somebody who ain't having it. _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ |

YouTube video leads to MARTA arrest
Young woman shown pitching a fit, threatening elderly woman on train By ARIEL HART The Atlanta Journal-Constitution Published on: 05/13/08 MARTA officials said they have arrested Nafiza Ziyad, 25, as the result of an online video in which a young woman appears to be threatening an old woman on a MARTA train. The video, posted on YouTube two weeks ago, has drawn more than 7,000 comments on the site and been viewed more than 600,000 times. • See YouTube video (Contains profanity) Recent headlines: Fundraiser promotes cityhood for Dunwoody YouTube video leads to MARTA arrest DeKalb delays vote on animal shelter, Tasers • DeKalb County news It shows a young woman turning around to yell at a white-haired passenger in the seat in behind her, then standing up and shouting at her in a freestyle rap. She doesn't appear to touch the woman, but in the course of yelling at her lunges close to her and makes a motion slapping the air back and forth. Her moods swing but she grows increasingly agitated. Other passengers in the car do nothing, with an occasional laugh, until what sounds like a male voice says "It's an old lady, man, chill." The young woman turns to the voice and says "Old lady? You know what this old lady called me?" then calms down and sits down for a moment before getting up again. She moves toward the voice and down the aisle, eventually screaming and appearing unhinged as other passengers get up and try to deal with her or give her space. MARTA police have charged Ziyad with simple assault, two counts of "certain acts in transit," and disorderly conduct, all misdemeanors, in the incident that they say occurred on March 10, 2008. She is in DeKalb County jail, according to a statement from MARTA police chief Wanda Dunham. "I want to reiterate that this is an extremely isolated incident," Dunham said. "We regret that the many citizens who witnessed this incident did not utilize the emergency call button that is available in all rail cars to directly contact the rail operator or contact MARTA police so that we could have responded to this situation immediately." Emergency call buttons are red buttons at standing level in the train cars that call the train operator. They can be by the door at the end of a car that leads to the next car, or sometimes by the door that leads to the platform. Dunham said passengers in an emergency can call MARTA police directly at 404-848-4911. Or: • On AT&T, Verizon, or Sprint/Nextel cell phones they can press #MPD (#673)– for "Marta Police Department." • Blackberry users can press #673. _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ |

Working at the Mississippi State Hospital (which used be title Mississippi Lunatic Assylum) Her actions wouldn't be put with Bi-polar or Manic Depression, they would be more something like Intermittent Explosive Disorder (some would say this is tourettes disorder, but big difference). Or she just might be high of something. If it is a mental disorder she need 2 be under a state agency like Weems, or Laurel Wood a few here in our state, that will and can help her in times like this one. There is no excuse.
