I budget my expenses for the week, each week. I filled up yesterday (well it didn't make it to the F) but $50 was what I spent. I drive an Altima but I can survive for 2 weeks on that only if I drive to work and straight home afterwards. There's no reason the gas is as high as it is. The gov't can drop the prices if they want to. But why would they do that when folks need gas and will continue to purchase it daily.

Well, great old South Carolina has suspended all grocery taxes to help offset the increasing gas prices. But, I paid damn near $6.00 for a block of Kraft cheese for macaroni today. Milk is almost $5.50/gallon. Makes me think that Obama was on point with his objection to the gas tax holiday. Just like the grocers, the gas companies will find a way to pocket our break and then some.

Frowner

My wife and I are fans of Dave Ramsey. We are seriously considering going on "beans and rice" until all of our debt is paid off. I even thought about selling my car and buying a beater. We make a lot of money, but we still need to be careful because things are BAD.

A beater is basically an old car that runs good and gets you around and is paid for. LOL

Had a convo in the office when a gentleman over heard us and shared a story with us. He said his brother in law is an over the raod driver. He made a delivery to somewhere in Cali. When he returned to SC he profited $59.00. That same day he said his brother in law put a for sale sign on his rig.

And like BIR, I am going to keep my azz from the malls, shopping centers, Target, WalMart, K-Mart, Borders (well not my books) shopping on-line, etc.

Born,

When I went to Cookman in 1999, I was crying because the gas was like $1.49, and back home in Atlanta, it was like $.89.

Guys, what incentive do the oil companies have for lowering the prices? I mean, seriously, they can charge $8 a gallon, and there's nothing we can do about it. We'd still buy it. Frowner
