I have an Accord now...the first time I filled it up, it took about $40, and gas was just under $2. About two weeks later, it took $50.

I said never again...at least no time soon.

I put about $30 in weekly, and that usually gets me close to a week's worth of gas.

BUCK FUSH! Mad Mad Mad

Stories like y'alls is why I love my Nissan Sentra.

It might not be the most luxurious thing on the block, but she sips on regular, and needs filling once every 10 days. I never break past $35.00, even on E.

You can have those gas-guzzling, premium fuel spoiled rides, me and my baby are getting along quite nicely!

I just paid 4.01 this morning per gallon for gas here in Tallahassee for my Lexus. The cost to fill up the tank was 58.00! WTF? In a way, I'm glad that my Mustang is in the shop..

Everyone on here that knows me, knows I am a shop-a-holic. But gas prices have caused me to pack up everything that I have not worn, box it up and send it right back. This thang ain't no joke and it gets sadder by the day! Cry

Here's where we need to branch off and open up threads that ask

1. What sacrifices do I make to afford gas?
2. What am I doing to preserve the environment?
3. Do you think we have anything to do with the skyrocketing prices or should we blame somebody else for our dependency?

But that didn't answer THIS question. So, lemme see...

I work from home 4 days a week so I estimate my fuel usage to be about 5 dollars a day. I think that shopping is a total waste of time so I don't spend a lot of money of things I don't need although I do need a new pair of jeans. I have lots of BCU shirts so I'm good. I can only wear one pair of shoes at a time and black looks okay with everything...good there too.

Now, if you ask me about the price of FOOD, that's where I'm a bit p*issy. I can't believe the price for a gallon of milk. That's ridiculous. Glad I don't drink the stuff.

I put in 20-30 dollars worf of gas in my car about every two weeks and I'm good. I sits my arse home so when I wanna do something, I have the funds for it. I'm driving to Norfolk this weekend so I'll have a better guage on the price of gas and fillups next week.

Honestly, I'm not doing anything differently than I was doing prior to the increase in gas prices. I drive a Corolla which takes about $40 to fill up and I usually fill up about once every 2 weeks depending on how much driving I've done in a week.

I still take mass transit to work, although I have to drive to the station. I've always tried to combine trips when I go out to run errands on Saturday. I went shopping this past weekend for some spring/summer clothes, but I don't LIVE at the mall. Sometimes I go and don't buy a thing.

I usually go to the supermarket about once every 2-3 weeks. Since the farmer's market has opened up, I've been buying more fresh veggies and baked goods so that really keeps me out of the supermarket. However, the farmer's market is really more expensive than the supermarket, but the quality of produce/baked goods is better so that's the trade-off.

Interestingly enough, I only buy milk by the quart and it is almost $2 now.

I'd love to be able to work from home, but my program does not offer telecommuting.

All in all, I still do what I do at the same frequency. Having a small car has helped.

I'm sure I have a pain point on something but right now, I'm doing all I can to decrease my demand. More demand balance creates less supply. If we all (all the consumers-not just meacfans) adhered to basic economic principles, it would drive the prices down to some degree.

In Utopia I believe that folks can be the driving forces (collectively) behind behavioral changes. But that's not going to happen. People love convenience and get mad when it's not.

FYI: I have one (ONE=1) thing in my house that runs off gas. My heater/pilot light is it. When I called to ask why I was being hammered for 30.00 a month and if something was wrong with the meter, they told me that was the monthly charge to have it connected. 12 x 30= 360.00 a year and I only needed heat during 3 of those. Bump dat. It hit me that they were just doing it because they could. I had them shut that isht off immediately. I went to HHGregg and bought myself some convection type heaters and one small air blower type.

I braved the winter with those. I was only chilly when I got up in the mornings. My house stayed toasty and it's actually colder in here in the summers with the air running.

My point is, I'm not allowing them to dictate my life. Just like I don't answer the phone UNLESS I want to, I lead my life in pretty much the same way. I run dis- not the other way around. Wink I think folks would be a lot calmer if they moved into proactive versus reactive mode.

I forgot to add that my electric bill actually went down because that fan was not blowing to disperse the heat. Convection just warms the air around it and I'd guess I saved the entire cost of gas for the year. My electric bill never went over 120 a month. Yesterday I paid 108.00 and that's normal.

I drive and Audi TT roadster and a Toyota 4Runner. 6 in one hand, half a dozen the other. The TT takes high test (yeah I said it) and that is $4.00 gallon in the suburbs and more in the city. The 4Runner was $50.00 last night and that was 3/4 of a tank !!!!!!

I have a '98 Acura Integra my mom gave me for a bday present that I still drive sometimes.

When I first got the car in 1998, I could barely put $10 in gas in the tank and could drive back and forth for about two weeks. Now, the same car takes almost $40 in gas and I'd be lucky to drive on it for a week.

That's the thing. It shouldn't be that way. We work hard and should enjoy our money--not make the Bush family, Mr. Exxon Mobile and a bunch of middle eastern princes rich on our dime while we swallow more and more cut backs. Of course for now it has to be done, but I wish there was an answer that would work.

Believe me, if I could work from home everyday, I would. Plus, my job is about to send me back to school. That's great, but--I'll have to drive to school and work now. Not complaining bc it's a great opportunity--but very few Americans have the luxury of staying home to work.

Gas Prices Up Again

UNDATED (AP) _ Just like clockwork: another day, another hike in the price of gas.

Triple-A puts the national average cost of a gallon of regular at nearly $3.79. That's up a penny from yesterday, 39 cents higher than a month ago and 68 cents more than this time last year.

The average price of premium is now nearly $4.17.

With each record-setting day, motorists are trying to figure out how to save.

The auto club says some are rethinking their Memorial Day travel plans. A survey estimates there'll be about one-percent fewer cars on the road. That's still more than 31 and a-half million.

Brian LaFave of Sheboygan, Wisconsin, is so fed up, he says he's going to park his pickup and not buy any gas at all for at least a month. LaFave says he's not going to go anywhere he can't get to by bike or on foot. And he's not even going to accept rides with his friends, unless they happen to be in the neighborhood.

It takes $35.00 to fill up my car.

I drove to Florida for Easter--and from the all the traffic on the highway--folks are NOT cutting back.

My friends and I are planning a few trips to the shore this summer.

And I just simply try to find cheaper gas and I fill up more than I did before.

I am on my way to Baltimore tonight, and then NoVa. Saturday--and I'll be looking for reasonable gas prices--the whole time...

AND IT AIN'T GETTING BETTER Cry

RIYADH, Saudi Arabia — Saudi Arabia's King Abdullah told President Bush on Friday that he is powerless to bring down rising gas prices, dashing hopes that the oil-rich kingdom would boost supply to meet skyrocketing global demand.
It is the second time this year that Saudi Arabia has rebuffed Bush's appeals for more oil.

Roll Eyes Yea, I'm sure Bush really cares. I bet he's anxious to take that extra money we spend on gas out of his own pocket and back in ours. Bush can go s*** a d*** for all I care.

I havent filled up on gas since gas was around 3.00, but 25 dollars will get me around 3/4ths of a tank, so I'm guessing about 35 dollars will fill her up. Doesn't seem to get me far though. a full tank is good for three round trips to work, which is a 40 mile trip.
