I would venture to say no in all cases.

I have been one of the most vocal critics of the programming on both BET and TV One.

However, there are some things we need to consider-

1. What would we do without them? Where are the Black folks on TV, outside of February, June, and a few token positions on other networks?

2. MOST IMPORTANTLY- Complaining without PLANNING and ACTION is worthless.

Actually Big Cat, I've been trying to find out BET's current worth for a while now. They were sold for $3 Billion a while back. I can only assume they're worth more than that now. Say in 10 years I have $500 Million- $1 Billion, I'd be interested in getting a group of big money investors together and buying BET back from the man This is all theoretical of course.

As for TV One, they need to come off of it and start showing some interesting stuff, like HBCU Football games. They're losing money with reruns of 227, and they're taking forever trying to build a new headquarters. They aren't looking tgat good right now. Maybe they should cut their losses.

And at this point in time, BET (and Viacom) is a business. Yes, you can write letters, you can complain to your cable operators, but you and I both know there's no way in hell BET is going anywhere. They are a supply-and-demand business, and they make money by supplying that's in high demand...unfortunately, 90% of the demand comes from rappers who perpetuate stereotypes of Black America. Therefore, instead of writing letters in vain, just so I can get a "thanks but no thanks" stock letter, I simply don't watch. Just like I subscribe to XM, so I can get a variety of music from all genres and decades, instead of supporting the Clear Channel empire that has Deebo'd the local radio airwaves. I support underground works of people of color, i.e. Neo-Soul artists and independent filmmakers, I attend Black-oriented film festivals...in other words, in my own way, I support people who will never get the light of day on BET. Oh, and because BET won't do so, I take it upon myself to let other youth know that what they see on BET is 99.9% shullbit, i.e. rich, blinged-out rappers.

There are other ways to show your disapproval of the network beside what you mentioned. Just because you don't go for the traditional methods doesn't mean you can't show your opinion in other ways. Vote with your remote and wallet.

It was "classic" BET. Nothing more...nothing less and the bottom line is they doin fine...more than fine with and without the critics.

A truly ENJOYABLE 3 or 4 hours...now Puffy at the after party AND on stage was STRAIGHT SICKENING. He is the biggest "me-monkey" in the business. Didn't he have a party to throw and some rain to make?

Saw a bit of last night's rerun ...

Alicia Keys's set with SWV ("Sistas Woofin' Vittles"), En Vogue ("Ol' Big Eyed Terry always was - and still is - the finest of the bunch"), and TLC was pretty tight, and Chris Brown & Ne-Yo had some pretty OK sets.

But somebody needs to get T-Pain a decent tailor though ... Unless he was actually TRYING to look like Bootsy's illegitimate son in that metallic s*** he had on!
