FORT VALLEY STATE UNIVERSITY
When it comes to growth, Fort Valley State has no limits, said Terrance Smith, vice president for student affairs and enrollment management at the university. Total enrollment at the university this fall increased by nearly 17 percent to 2,535 students, as the school admitted the largest freshman class in its history, he said. Within the next three to five years, Fort Valley State expects to increase its enrollment to a minimum of 5,000 students, Smith said. "We are very confident that we will receive a large percentage of the overall projected enrollment of 100,000 new students in the University System of Georgia," he said. To accommodate the growth, the university recently added 951 beds in its Wildcat Commons student housing community. The university expects to add an additional 500 beds, as well as a cafeteria and bookstore by next fall, Smith said The university also plans to add additional academic programs, such as recently approved ones in education, and has received approval for renovations to the football stadium and student center, Smith said. In the spring, the Legislature included in its budget $16.8 million for a new 75,000-square-foot academic classroom building, scheduled to open in fall 2009. The regents' six-year plan includes $2.1 million for equipment for that building. It also includes $14.9 million for historic renovations to campus. "We're moving very aggressively," Smith said. "We will make sure we're in the position to accommodate every student who wants an education At Fort Valley State University. _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ TRANSFORMING STUDENT POTENTIAL INTO ACADEMIC EXCELLENCE!!!
F.V.S.U.:STRAIGHT TO THE TOP!!
THE ONLY POTENTIAL GREATER THAN OURS IS YOURS.
A HAVEN FOR HUNGRY MINDS!!
