By MATTHEW BOWERS, The Virginian-Pilot © May 5, 2007 | Last updated 11:51 PM May. 5 http://content.hamptonroads.com/story.cfm?story=124063&ran=98955 NORFOLK - Norfolk State University's Board of Visitors elected Bobby Norris Vassar rector on Friday. Vassar, an NSU alumnus formerly of Hampton, is a counsel to the U.S. House Judiciary Committee. He has served as Virginia's acting secretary of health and human resources and chairman of the Virginia Parole Board. He was appointed to the university's governing body in 2003 and chairs its Research and Technology Committee. He succeeds Jack Ezzell Jr., rector since 2002, who also announced that he would resign his board seat in June. During his two-year term, Vassar will conduct board meetings, appoint its committee members and serve as the board's spokesman. Viola Madison of Chesapeake was re-elected a vice rector and Virginia Board of Richmond as secretary. _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ |
