Hampton choir to give free concert
The Hampton University Concert Choir will perform Wednesday evening at the St. Andrews Middle School theater, 1231 Bluefield Road.

Also scheduled to perform at the free concert, which begins at 7 p.m., is the Richland 1 Honors Chorus.

The concert is a joint project of the Mid-South Carolina chapter of the National Hampton Alumni Association Inc., Richland 1’s Visual and Performing Arts Department and the district’s Office of Dropout Prevention, Specialized Interventions and Partnerships.

“We want to bring more exposure to the arts and to create unique partnerships between the district and higher education,” said Kerry Abel, president of the local Hampton Alumni Association chapter and Richland 1’s dropout prevention coordinator.

In addition to Wednesday evening concert, the Hampton choir will give a scaled-back performance for students at A.C. Flora High School at 10 a.m.
