Howard Ranks 96 of 100 in America's 'Top Tier' Institutions
U.S. News and World Report's 'America's Best Colleges 2008' Released Today Eboni Farmer 8/17/07/ HILLTOP Howard University continues to stand among the top colleges in the nation remaining in the U.S. News and World Report's top tier. Howard ranks 96th out of 124 colleges and universities , according to the America's Top Colleges 2008 report, which was released today. The University fell from the 94th position it held in the 2006- 2007 report. "All members of the University community are fully aware that our 'ranking' is measured by our continuing commitment to meeting the goals and aspirations set out in our mission statement," university president, H. Patrick Swygert, stated in a university statement. "Further, we all… the Board of Trustees, faculty students, staff and alumni, will continue to strive to build upon and enhance our legacy the true measure of our great University." Howard shares the 96th spot with Auburn University, Illinois Institute of Technology, Northeastern University, SUNY-Stony Brook, University of Arizona, University of Tennessee, University of Pacific (Calif.), and the University of Vermont. The university ranks 39th out of 50 of the countries most affordable colleges and third behind Harvard and Yale for students graduating with the least debt. This message has been edited. Congrats to Howard. More HBCUs must begin to crack those doors down so as to totally dispel the inferiority myth perpetrated against HBCUs. Congrats again Howard.
