Grambling State University Back To Normal After Friday's Fight, Lockdown Posted: April 25, 2008 04:53 PM EDT Updated: April 28, 2008 11:28 AM EDT Gunshots Forces Campus Lockdown at Grambling State University Shots Fired During Fight At Grambling State University; Police Seeking Shooter Grambling State University was back to a normal routine Monday morning after gunfire on campus prompted a lockdown Friday. Police say it all began about 11-o'clock Friday morning when a fight broke out on campus between students in front of Tubman Hall. Police confirm someone did fire a gun, but they have not arrested anyone in connection with that part of the investigation. They did arrest seven people on charges of disorderly conduct. Only two of them were Grambling students. Updated 5:45 April 25 Police in Grambling are looking for the person who fired a gun during a fight Friday at Grambling State University. The campus will remain on lockdown through Friday night. Grambling University's Police Chief said Friday's fight actually began Thursday night at a club between a student from Shreveport and another from New Orleans. The fighting picked up again Friday about 11:00 am in front of Tubman Hall, a male dormitory on campus. Three individuals are in custody for disorderly conduct. Police did not say if the three were students. Two people received minor injuries from the fight. The shooter remains on the loose. From 3:45 pm April 25 Several law enforcement agencies have converged on the Grambling State University campus in northcentral Louisiana to help with crowd control from two on-campus fights. KSLA News 12 has learned that authorities from the Lincoln Parish Sheriff's Office, Ruston Police, Louisiana State Police and Grambling Police Department are assisting the Grambling State University Police with the situation. It's not known right now just what started the fights, but Stephen Williams with the Lincoln Parish Sheriff's Office told KSLA News 12 a gunshot was fired. Ralph Wilson, spokesman for Grambling State University, said, "Police have not fully confirmed with me that there were gunshots fired, I am still waiting on that confirmation. We should know by the time your crew gets here." There are no reports of any injuries. Wilson did say students and employees got a text message through the school's text messaging system that the school was closing for the day at 3:00 pm. He did not say if the message was sent because of the situation on-campus. Wilson also said GSU's president asked for the campus to be locked-down. Grambling is located about 55 miles east of Shreveport. _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity!
