And when I said NCCU's show was subpar, I meant that it did not go over well with the audience...The sound and creativity was there but it wasn't executed well enough to grab the audiences attention

I think everyone did well this year. I still cant get over watching WSSU Honda. 4 years ago, no one wouldve ever known that this the Rams would have a respectable marching band program!

I do have one complaint though...and thats small bands who recruit to appear "bigger" at Honda. one band in particular looked like they almost doubled in size. for what???

How many years has BCC done the kneel and bow on the sidelines at the end of their show?

With the Rattlers not around for 2 years, folks tryna imitate/duplicate MY band. Now, that's just funny. How long before you have a DM doing a high-flying split (ala FAMU) while being invisibly pulled out of the sky (ala BCU)? I don't even want to think about it. Laugh

I went to the show, and took three first timers along with me (non-SCSU fans btw). WE decided that WE enjoyed the TX Southern show most because because they did what most who paid the money wanted to see, a lot of hypeness and something different, but relevant to the youth of today's culture. The Batman over Superman routine was a winner!
BCU will always wow you with their sound, and so will Norfolk State but NSU left the crowd thinking about that show, wondering what went wrong.
It would be nice to see new bands from the MEAC next year. I own that opinion.
NCCU, '07 was your year, not '08.
UAPB, your announcer stole your show--overkill.
WSSU my compliments to your show.
Everyone else was -- entertaining.

NSU had a hard act to follow this year...Their show from last year got "house" on EVERY song...But, they have the talent to have outperformed last years show but didn't...Turthfully, all of the bands that were there in '07 were underwhelming this year...TXSU had easy pickins' and they ran with it despite having a nasty sound and terrible drill...They had the excitement and enthusiasm and the crowd loved it...

HONDA needs to change the line up so that the SWAC and MEAC bands arent last anymore...no disrespect to the other conferences...but the crowd apparently recognizes and hears the differential leap in showmanship and sound...I know some folk may be irked by that assertion...but when you annually hear comments like "the HONDA was boring until that SWAC/MEAC band woke the crowd up"...then something needs to be modified...and usually that first band who "wakes up" the crowd is voted the concensus favorite at the end of the showcase...

I suggest that HONDA doesnt anchor the showcase with the "big bands" but instead have them start and end the event...with the other 2 bands somewhere in the middle like this:

S 1 1 M 1 1 S 1 1 M

Sprinkle a lil paprika for color...and VOILA! That's one entertaining recipe! Laugh

I've seen BCU and NSU in person many times & neither rarely dissppoint. Those were both excellent choices. But the MEAC has only had 3 bands represented, yet the SWAC has had about half of their conference represented.
I think A&T, SCSU, Hampton or Howard could put on great & entertaining shows in such a venue. The two HU bands could bring a more northern flavor to a mostly southern crowd. All 4 bands have wowed or shocked audiences, won BOTB competitions or put on memorable & entertaining shows recently.
