Eventhough its just the pep bands playing; its still going to be an intense battle! The HU and NSU bands seem to bring out the best in one another no matter the size of the stage! The great thing is that these to pep bnds will be playing for the girls and guys games! the last two years HU and NSU did not have double header. The way I see it NSU is up 2-0 with two more rounds to go! The games will be very competive and exciting as well!

I agree speed11 about the intense battle (not so much about the record however).
But I enjoy the pep band battle btw the two because it is intense, in a more closed in environment and the instrumentation numbers are usually more balanced.

I think NSU & Hampton have some of the best pep bands in the MEAC along with A&T & Del State.

Pep band not marching band. The last time I saw them at the tourney, they were one of the better bands, haven't seen them this year though.

Yeah 2 Pep Bands make the games VERY interesting. Hampton has prob had the pleasure of seeing the most in recent years. Since 99- SCSU, NSU, Del State (maybe Howard, not sure) pep bands have all been to the HUCC.

In my opinion... if you bring the pep band and cheerleaders to the games and let them travel all of the schools would have better attendance... would open the door to alot more fans who just love to see the bands go at it...

I remember when we were in the ciaa we had VUU,VSU,HIU,ECSU, Every year you atleast had this many games that had the full compliment to the game... Meac might want to try it one year.. It just may change the atmosphere.

I agree eezbook, but if you think about it, all those schools you mentioned are within an hour's drive from Norfolk. The only school that is that close now is Hampton. Most schools aren't willing to pay for travel & expenses for a pep band (or cheerleaders) at a regular conference bball game, esp if it requires overnight, but it would make for more exciting atmosphere. The CIAA does it often b/c of their close proximity.

ummm... NSU, Hampton, Howard, NCA%T, WSSU, NCCU, UMES could probably send band and cheerleaders to conference games... FAMU, SCSU, SSU, BCC could do it in the south, and DSU, MSU, CSU, UMES, Howard could do it up north...

once it starts it would be the norm, kinda like marching bands during the football season.

So the MEAC has opposing pep bands at their games? Is this common or just for rivalry games? Saturday games only?

"Just in terms of federal research expenditures, JSU is second in the country in terms of historically black colleges and universities," Okojie said. "We had research expenditures of $47 million last year, second only to Howard University, and most of that was money brought in by the faculty...."*****UPDATE*****"We currently rank No. 1 among research intensive HBCU's in acquiring federal research dollars.".....Ronald Mason, JSU Presidential Newsletter(2004)

For the most part- NO. But, there have been a couple exceptions here & there, but only NSU & Hampton do this consistently with each other mainly due to the rivalry and that the 2 schools are only 25-30 mins away & have large facilities.
