You really are rock-bottom when you steal instruments or are trying to make a killing.

*smh*

I'm not sure what (specifically) they are going to do, but they know they have options and support from a number of different schools at this point.

The director was pretty hot about it, but the show must go on.

Confused Still NO WORD on the stolen instruments?

That sucks major AZZ!!!!

Whenever they catch the culprits, I say let the NCCU band members have their way with them for about an hour or so; THEN make their thieving asses shine up those instruments; THEN haul them off to jail! Thumb Up

Druggies are stealing any and every piece of metal they can get their strung out hands on.

We've had a major problem in our area with theft of copper wire from public lighting, piping, and HVAC units.

Just last night these two igits were arrested for stealing a metal sculpture and cutting up the parts to sell as scrap. The statue was worth tens of thousands, but they needed that $70-$100 they were able to get for it in scrap to buy more drugs.

This is a good time for Duke, Carolina, A&T and all other schools in the area to show thier support for NCCU and find out some type of way to let the eagles borrow thier intruments for BOTB. Im not a band head so is this possible?

It's possible....but I would imagine that any band program that would be inclined to help them would have serious concerns about the lack of security. Frowner

Not only so they can perform next week; but a thought popped into my head:
HOW ARE THEY ABLE TO PRACTICE; OR ARE THEY ABLE TO PRACTICE IN THE MEANTIME?

I'm sure thats a big concern too!

DURHAM

The band will go on.

Using borrowed instruments, the marching band at North Carolina Central University is on its way to Atlanta to compete Saturday in the annual Battle of the Bands.

The trip to the high-profile competition had been threatened after dozens of instruments were stolen.

University band director Jorim Reid said 14 sousaphones and several other instruments were taken from locker rooms during at least two thefts dating back to November.

The sousaphones were valued at $3,000 each, and cost up to $7,000 new.

The loss of sousaphones, in particular, was a blow to a 180-member band. It relies heavily on the large, big-belled tubas.

University spokesman Miji Bell said the band didn't have to rent any instruments because all the replacements were borrowed.

glad everything worked out Smiler
