Hampton erased a 27-14 halftime deficit, returning two interceptions for long touchdowns, in a 48-27 victory at Princeton. More than 15,000 fans were on hand for just the second Ivy-vs-HBCU contest and the Hampton Marching Band -- the Force -- received a standing ovation following its halftime set. “This was a big-time college football atmosphere,” said Princeton Coach Roger Hughes. “I’m very proud of the way the team played, but we left points on the field because we didn’t execute. We need to get that fixed.”

"The next 20 minutes belonged to the famed Hampton marching band, which thrilled a packed Princeton Stadium with a brilliant performance. The Pirate Marching Force, one of the premier bands in the nation, united the crowd by earning a full standing ovation upon completion of their set."

I know the fans didn't know what hit them when the Force took the field. Thumb Up

Way to represent, HU! Thumb Up From the looks of the stands, the Pirates really showed up in the stands AND on the field for this game.

I also really like Princeton's Stadium. I was reading that this is a NEW stadium that actually replaced an old LARGER stadium. Interesting.

quote:

Princeton Stadium has a seating capacity of 27,800, with room for more than 30,000 in the building, compared with a 45,750 capacity for Palmer Stadium. To get a good feeling for the new facility, consider these two facts: Princeton Stadium sits 15 feet higher from the turf to the top point of the stadium than Palmer did, yet Princeton Stadium's closest seats are merely 17 feet away from the field.

It reminds me a lot of the new UCF stadium which did not cost a lot of money as stadiums go. I hope we move in that direction soon and fix our stadium problems.

Its nothing new...PWC's always love to see the "black" bands dance. Just ask FAMU...they did a whole halftime show with nothing but dancing one time when they played Miami. Laugh Laugh Laugh

We've done that in Indy also in front of an all black crowd. What's your point?

The Legion is certainly not known for its dancing and yet they were also well received by the Rutgers crowd. It's possible that the Princeton crowd appreciated the Force's MUSICAL abilities, especially since their "band's" claim to fame is spelling "CRAP" on the field.

Give our HBCU bands a little more credit, unknown3. Peace

Don't hate because The Force has recieved more national exsposure than NSU. You know first you congratulate and then you jump on the hate wagon. I really wish you all could see the tape of this performance and you would see that they deserved every bit of what they recieved. I have not seen any articles about the NSU/ Rugters game, if so did any of the writers mention NSU's band? If so Good for you and congrats on your efforts. You speak of crap well a least The Force is capible of putting together a New show weekend and week out were as NSU may do the same show year after year, and you know I am not making that up......and for the record Hampton did not just dance the entire show as a matter of fact they danced less than normal....

Baby Boy, dm was defending yall. But you can get me. When I read the "premier band in the nation" statement, I got tickled. Let's just say, "It takes so little to please some people."

There's a lot to be said about politeness and good manners, though. Laugh

That stadium was nowhere near packed, but a decent crowd was there from what I saw.

I bet every current Black alum from Princton was there, plus alums from NY/NJ.

Wow, stick up for a Pie-rat and you STILL get slammed. Go back and READ her post man. There was no hate in the commment. Roll Eyes She was talking about Princeton spelling "crap." Not literally, but figuratively. Reading comprehension Baby Boy. I know it's "Battle of the Bay" week, but tone it down some. Go seek counseling. Read a book. Stay off the double shots of expresso. Smoke Now apologize to the nice Spartan woman.
