I shot a goo-gob of pics but I'm still getting used to the whole SLR thing so forgive me if I seem to have ruined what would have been the best shots of this series. When I get my own I'll be much more up to speed. I'm not near 'bout done finishing the reams of shots I took but here are few I've scaled down for web consumption so far.

I'm looking for critical commentary from some of you seasoned photographers out there. Don't spare my feelings. Be brutal!

Seriously, I didn't notice her in the shot until I got home. I liked that she was smiling, that's why I centered her in the crop.

In all likelihood she was smiling because my boy probably had my leg in a death grip while I was shooting.

I'm adding some more pics from halftime and the start of the 3rd quarter right now. I'm really disappointed in my band shots. A lot of them were unusable because I fell victim to the dreaded paralax error. The camera I usually use, my piece-of-crap mega-zoom, views through-the-lens so I didn't even think of the difference with SLR until it was too late.

Dayum!

It aint paralax or the camera....your aim is just bad! LOL HA I got jokes!

Actually, the SLR should eliminate paralax. It has that little mirror that sits between the lens and your film (or digital sensor) and reflects to your view finder. It just flips up out the way when you snap the picture, capturing the exact image you saw in your viewfinder.

If you are shooting with non-SLR camera, then you probably would compensate slightly for paralax, but it doesnt matter so much if you are cropping anyway.

Yeah, I guess you're right. The mirror just flips up on the click of the shutter.

I don't understand what happened on those shots then. Maybe those were the ones where my son was yanking on me. I don't know.

For whatever the reason, the shots I got on a lot of the ones I haven't posted from halftime are NOT the shots I thought I had.
